A New Virus In Town

There is a new virus attacking computers. It does not becoming active until you click on your bank account. At that point, the virus seems to create a false statement for you, so that you are not aware your money is being syphoned off until your account is empty and the bounced check fees come rolling in.
So, remember, do NOT click on emails from anyone you do not know. Look for anything ending in .exe because these can hold all sorts of executable files. If you see the tiniest thing that looks off kilter with your computerized banking, check with your bank asap. Keep your firewall settings at HIGH and constantly update your anti-virus programs.
It has hit a couple of countries pretty hard so far and alarm flags are going up in all countries with heavy computer usage.
Has anyone here been hit with it yet? Can anyone think of more precautions to take to avoid this and other viruses?

I am so glad I don't use Windows anymore. God how much virus threats use to mean something. I would suggest locking all the ports that you can down. Windows uses some so you can't lock them all down :(. But that would be my suggestion oh and try to keep only port 80 open as that is most commonly used for internet browsing

Hello Mysticmaggie,
"Good Looking Out." No, it has not happened to me because I do
not have an online bank account.
The banks and credit unions urge their customers and members to
go paperless. I refuse to. I have worked with computers, and
written programs for computers for years. Therefore, I know hackers exist.
I do use direct deposit from cash resources, but other than
that, until it is mandatory, I will not use online banking,
:)

Thank you for this great information and your reminder. The world is already proliferated with people who know nothing good to do to people. It is always best for everyone to be careful and not to trust so easily. It will be a good protection for ourselves and the things that we do.

The good news is that for every creep out there, you can find thousands of terrific people. The bad news is that each creep can do a lot of damage before being caught.

Well as for me I never did like viruses not a big fan of those very much. I have an anti virus program that works really well and it helps keep all those viruses out. I used to get them before, but not anymore. Yes hackers always find a way if only there wasn't any hackers I really don't like how they rob people out of their money it's not fair. Thanks for this though I will make sure to always keep everything updated and to make sure that my computer is always running smoothly.

Hi and thanks for the info. I´m lucky ´cause I haven´t been hit by that virus, right now I´m checking my antivirus for any upgrade. I don´t to be infected with that virus, even I don´t use to check so much my bank account trough the Internet (I prefer to check it right in the bank).

I'm considering closing my online accounts and changing my account numbers. At least if it happens because of bank security, they will help set things right. If it's because we aren't doing enough, we may not have a chance of recovering anything.
