Send it back? Can't be bothered!

I buy a lot of my clothes online and I don't mind buying second hand ones from Ebay if they look new. Anyway I bought a designer t shirt for my husband yesterday, he is a medium size. When the t shirt came yesterday I opened it and it was huge, they should have explained when they said medium that they meant it would fit a medium size elephant! I contacted the seller to arrange a refund but they haven't got back to me yet so I've given up, I think I'll just keep it and put it down to bad luck. Do you get annoyed when you have to send stuff back?

Hey Autumn....the big e-bay buyer :o) I have been lucky buying things on e-bay and have only had a couple of things that didn't fit..I wasn't overly bothered as they weren't too expensive and I think it's all part of buying things on an auction site anyway. One of them I gave away to someone else and the other I resold on e-bay as I really couldn't be bothered to send them back to the seller and it was my own fault for not checking the size anyway. I think most of the time I would just resell things that were the wrong size, hoping to get more than I paid in the first place :o)

Hello Cat. That's my first bad experience with Ebay so I'll just put it down to bad luck. Selling it on is a great idea, I'll have to try

The problem with it is if the tag says medium then its not her fault. She might not sell mens clothing very often so she wouldnt have known to write that the size is much larger then the tag states. Thats what sucks about buying clothes when you cant see them in person first. I bought panties on there and when I got them even though they were size small they were way to big for me so I wasted $30 on a lot of 6 pairs of satin panties. I didnt complain because I know how different brands are different sizes even if they all say small on the tag. I wish that companies were made to make everything the same size as a standard so ALL mens mediums would be the corret size no matter what brand you choose.

Oh I see! I had no idea you didtnt live in the United States. That is for sure then that the sizes would be different. Even in the United States the brands vary a little bit but outside the united states the sizes are very much different. I never sell to customers outside the united states. It takes longer for them to get their purchases and the items have a much higher chance of getting lost in the mail.

Hello Shaggin. I agree with you, sizes should be standardised. Those polo shirts would have passed as extra large here yet were sold as medium in the States. As you say it's a gamble and I won't be buying clothes online again unless I know the brand well.

I sure do and I also get annoyed when someone says to me, "Keep it" or persuades me to buy a lemon like that brown leather coat when brown does not look good on me, or persuades me not to buy the white leather coat because it will get dirty when it would have looked good on me.
Next time I am going to find a sales lady with my coloring rather then my friend who is a Spring while I am a Winter.
I had to return stuff and it was not on Ebay, but to the store. I hated to take time out of my day to get there as I was working at the time, and I had someplace else to do. And with Christmas presents, I feel bad because they thought I would like it. Fortunately it does not happen that often.
Oh by the way, if you know an elephant in the neighborhood....

I stick in the closet, and then "well it does not fit me anymore" because I either lost or gained weight. But usually it is clothes that they had in their closet and it no longer fit them. I also have clothes that someone else thought looked good on me. Translation: It looked good on them or "you are over 60 and this looks good on you. Translation: This will make you look over 60\ and like an old lady.
Most of the clothes I wear are either black and white or a combination because I do not have to worry. So they had better send me a gift certificate or money. It is so much easier for me.

Hello Suspenseful. There's nothing worse that getting a present and not liking it, it's embarrassing, especially if it's clothing because then we have to wear it or upset whoever bought it. Yes I could donate it to the local zoo

Hello Dawnald. I don't know why it is, it's only a quick walk to the post office but I never get round to doing it.

How annoying. I rarely shop online, cause my country has a complicated rule on bringing goods into the country. I did once ordering a cowboy hat for a friend and it went smoothly and no complain there. But I ordered it directly from the shop, not from Ebay or Amazon.
I need to be able to see what I buy and check every stitches and the fit on my body before I buy my clothes. So, I would not order it online.

Hello Jennyze. I've been lucky until now but it's made me think about buying clothes online again. The best thing I can do is open a sellers account then if something doesn't fit I can sell it, maybe even for a profit

There are some false sellers who does not send items. i bought a watch from china through ebay still i didnt receive it.its nearly a year before. moreover sending back the goods overseas takes much time and cost is also high. with that money you can buy a good Tshirt for your hubby near by. always go for trusted ebay sellers and read reviews before buying.

Hello SRBABAJEE. You should have reported the seller and the item as not being recieved, they should have their accounts closed for that. I'll be more careful when buying from Ebay in future.

i reported many number of times but the reply was "i dispatched the product and you'll receive it soon, it may be delayed due to local postal service" i even made an enquiry at the local post office but no such product is received. similarly i purchased another product and within seven days i received it from china. both good and cheats are in ebay. so be careful while purchasing.

This is why I have never and will never buy clothes online..Unless I can try them on, I can't guarantee it'd fit.But give it another couple days, maybe the seller will work it out with you and you can get the size you need..

Hello Carmel. I'm usually very lucky when I buy stuff online but I've since found out that this designer makes stuff in loose and slim fit, I obviously bought the loose fit. It would still fit an elephant though so if there are any cold elephants out there... Yes I'll give the seller time to get back, it's been over a day now though so I won't hold my breath.

Yeah, that is too bad though, because they should have contacted you. But computers do fail and I'd give them a little more time and then give them a low rating..That is what I did when I got a 3 chapter book and got no reply when I contacted the seller..Sure they refunded my money since I didn't get what I ordered, but they never contacted me at all..This was on amazon though..

Hi Autumngold, I have been very lucky when purchasing clothes online as they all are the sizes that they said they have been, I order from the catalogue too but find I quite often have to return with them but it is free t do so so not too much of a problem, I would put it by to give someone larger than your hubby as a Christmas pressie myself. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hello Ellie. That's a good idea, it would fit a large easily so I could give it to someone else. I've never liked sending stuff back, I don't know why but it just seems like too much hassle.

That sounds like a very unlucky experience you had! I tend to buy my clothes online too although I buy my clothes from Littlewoods! Thankfully I have never had to return an item of clothing back as yet. I'm sure there are a lot of genuine clothes sellers on ebay but I wouldn't buy my clothes from ebay, definitely not. Shopping online is the most convenient way to buy clothes, it doesn't get any easier than that.
Hopefully the seller will get back in touch with you to arrange this refund otherwise you could file a complaint and this will go against their rating and they won't like that, it's probably what they deserve though if they have not been honest with you. I wish you luck. Andrew

Hello Andrew. The seller won't accept returns, I found out at the weekend. I'll just have to try to sell it. I suppose it's my fault really for not asking for measurements.

Being an ebay seller my self I can honestly say that there is nothing more frustrating than a seller that does not disclose all the details of the item in their auction. I have had that same thing happen to me as well. I will say that it being the weekend some ebayers are like a business and closed on the weekends. I would give the seller at least 7 days to resolve the problem if at that time nothing is done then I would contact ebay and file a report that the item is not what was described in the auction. As I said however give them a chance. Some sellers dont work on the weekends as its time with their family's. Good luck I am sure the seller will do what ever is needed to make the sale a sucessful one.

Hello Autumnrose. I since found out she doesn't accept returns, it's there on the listing so there's nothing I can do except maybe try to sell it. Most people put measurements on the description but I thought Ralph Lauren medium size was standard, apparently not. If he was a medium elephant it would fit him well

I really feel thats why, online shopping works and is so successful. Often times i end up with stuff i don't want buts its too complicated to send it back. they make the process so hard and its sucks, but we should send what we don't want back no matter how complicated.

Hello Ceekay. Yes it's a pain sending stuff back, especially when we've looked forward to getting it. I found out the seller doesn't accept returns so I'm stuck with it now until I can sell it.

That's the bad and the good of shopping at ebay. I always verify the sellers ratings when I buy something. If they have a good rating then you be pretty sure that if you do have to send something back they'll be accommodating because they don't want a negative rating. You can get some good deals and nice stuff, but there's always the chance your sight unseen purchase won't work out. If you know you can send it back and get a refund then no harm done.

Hello Daa[rice. I always check their rating before I buy, this seller has 100% rating so I thought I'd be safe. I since found out they don't accept refunds, my fault for not checking before I bought it.

Hello Buimai and welcome I', not annoyed now, I've learned my lesson. Yes it's fun to go to shops and look before we buy and at least we know if stuff fits before we buy it.
