My sisters came down the other day and we drove out to my camper and spent the better part of the day in the pool! It was hotter then blazes and pool felt sooo good! I used sunscreen....had on sunglasses but totally forgot about my head! I can hardly even brush my hair! Have you ever sunburned the top of your head? Do you like wearing hats on a sunny summer day?

It was a mess, i had to peel fis head off just like u would your back etc. Of course they all had shaved their heads before they went which i wasn't happy about to start with, lol. oNE OF THE PLAYERS BURNED HIS HEAD SO BAD IT SWELLED. I hope u don't have any bad trouble from it. I hate wearing hats but wish u had worn one.

Ouch, Jill. I have sunburned the top of my head when I was a kid. My hair is thin and when I was younger I wore braids so the part was in the middle. The sun got me pretty good. Hats of any kind give me a headache especially if I am in the sun. I avoid the sun now as much as possible since I've had so many problems with my skin as a result of too much sun as a kid. Hope you had a good time with your sister camping. I totally understand about the intense heat as we are experiencing the same kind of weather.

We had an awesome time. Couldn't believe the campgrounds was that empty that we had the pool to ourselves! I don't wear hats either....give me a headache too!

Hi Jill, Hope you had a lovely time with your sisters, lukily no I have never burnt my head and don't wear hats either, I do tend to stay out of the sun though as am very fair skinned. Hope you will soon be able to brush hair without pain again soon. Huggles. Ellie :D

A couple of times in tropical places, I have burned the backs of my legs enough that I had to snorkel in pants...

Oh gosh! I am so sorry for you, haha. I don't normally burn, so if I do then it had to be extremely hot, so I have never sunburned the top of my head, thank god! Hahah. When I was in Las Vegas in July, it was as hot as.. well, it was very very hot outside, since Las Vegas is just desert. So much so that we did buy hats for once. :] We were afraid to be burnt!

Oh poor you! No I don't wear hats.. but I'm sure I've burned my head once or twice. Thankfully I have thick, dark hair, so it's hard to burn my head! However, this reminded me of what my hubby has done! When he was in his very early 20's he started getting a receding hairline.. and it happened fast! One day he was driving home from camp, about a 4 hour drive, in his thunderbird with the T tops down. The part of his head that was balding was not used to sun.. so it burned pretty bad! So, when he was about 25, the hairline was so bad he looked to be about 40 already. So he decided to shave his head bald. I saw him within the first few days of him doing it.. and he looked funny! His face and front top of his head was a normal color, but under where the hair had been was bright white! It didn't take long for him to get a really nasty burn on top of his bald head. Every summer he gets 1 good burn on the top of his still bald head, but then it tans over and he no longer burns after that.

I have had a sunburn on top of my head a few times mainly when my hair is parted. My kids of course the same, I try to apply sunscreen to the part area, but only the first few times at the begining of the summer after that it tends to not be so sensitive. I hate to wear hats in the heat it makes my head sweat which makes it itch. I do remember a time when it hurt so bad to brush my hair, but it was from having a softball it me on top of my head. Why they ca;; them softballs I will never know, as they are from it. Hope it heals up quick.

Ouch, yes I have, but haven't in a while since I rarely go out in the heat of the day anymore. However when I do have to, I do wear a hat, my favorite blue baseball hat..:)

No, I can't say that I have sunburned the top of my head! I have such a head full of hair that's so darned thick and wavy that I hate it. I let it grow out one time and it was one time too darned many. lol Now it's really short, off of my neck which is what I like. Now a days I can't get in the sun at all because I have lupus which basically means, I can't get in the sun or near any water or shiny objects that are in the sun even if I'm in the shade because it reflects off of the object or water onto me and I break out with these ugly blotches. Such is life. lol I have my own pool in my back yard and get in it when the sun isn't shining on it anymore. I get a little time to spend in there and love it!! lol

I haven't experienced that sunburning my head. I seldom do get skin sunburns because we don't stay much under the sun. Our skin tone being brown doesn't need to be under the sun anymore.

Oh my you poor thing. I have once and that was only the part. But I try to stay on the shade. I used to have a big floppy hat but was lost in a move. Now I wear a baseball hat and wonder how do men wear them all the time. I really want to find a big floppy hat again that I can wear my hair in a ponytail with. Had to come and see how you have been. It really must have been extra hot. I have never heard of this happening to anyone before. That must hurt. I had skin cancer on my face a few years back (not melanoma) and I am very careful. Just a slight an on my arms but the rest of me is not tanned. We make sure that my grands all are smothered in sunscreen cream and their parents use it too. Skin colour is no protection these days

My hair is turning white in places....and that's where it burned....When I don't have my roots done it's like you can see my scalp! I should have worn a hat! I had sunscreen all over the rest of me!

I've never been sunburned on top of my head before, but my nose is a constant problem. It hasn't been that bad so far this summer because I keep drowning it in suncream. About a month ago though, I was down the beach with some friends and I filled a rubber dinghy with water. I didn't put suncream on because I forgot and I laid in the water-filled dinghy for hours. With the sun magnified by the water, I got terrible sunburn on my whole body. Needless to say I didn't go out during the next couple of days...

When you're in the pool, the reflection of the sun in the water makes you burn even worse than your normally would. Good idea to wear a hat when in the pool for a long time.
