My Crochet Today

The time is 1:58 A.M. and I just finished up another rag rug. I don't use a pattern for my rugs, I just think them up as I go along. It's too late to take a picture of it now, so I will later on. I found out the pictures come out better if I take them outside in in-direct sunlight. The best time is about 6:00 P.M. for me. So what is your latest project? Have you finished it yet?

Wow, you were up late. I know what its like to want to finish a project, but I have never stayed up late to do it.

I stay up late sometimes crafting. I cross stitch and I think, I just want to finish one more row and then I look up and its really late. Time can get away from you when you enjoy your crafting.

I know how it goes when working on a project you want to finish. The time just runs away. My latest project is in the works. Am making a firetruck bank with plastic canvas. Will probably take me weeks to finish since the stitches are all single and take while to complete. I found taking photos is best for me inside the house when it's sunny out. Haven't gone outside to take photos but that's a good idea. Would love to see a photo of your finished rag rug.

pmb.....I tried selling on Etsy and didn't do well but then again I didn't put much effort into trying to push my items. Good luck if you join.

I love doing plastic canvas I need to get back into doing it, where I have so much yarn around, I just don't get the time to do my crafts when the kids are at home, but I really need to start picking up. Debs, do you sell a lot of things on etsy? I have thought about trying them but I never have. But I am wondering if people sell a lot through there or not?

Have you ever tried felting with wool? It looks pretty neat. I'm going to give it a try someday.I was just thinking maybe making felted gingerbread men for Christmas tags. They could double as cute ornaments too.

I see you are like me and should be in bed LOL I only completed one coaster today...been a busy day. I got a comment on my post today telling me that mylot won't like me doing a craft update daily as this is for discussions and not for live journals....but I'm doing them in hopes of getting discussions going on crafts and what others are doing. I know you are new here, but what do you think? I just want to post here about things that I know about...and try to remain active here as I should have been since joining years ago. Marsha

I figure it is a topic for discussion. See how and what others are making and maybe sharing tips etc. Yes I really am going to bed now-LOL

Marsha, the difference between your discussion and debs is that she asked a question at the end of her update which turned her update into a discussion. That kind of posting is okay if it done every once in a while. Its just not good for an every day kind of post.

I am no good in this. I started knitting a pullover for my then fiance when I got engaged and it lay there for several years unfinished. So much about my interest. The mind is willing but the flesh is weak!

I had started on it just to impress my one and only but I was pleasantly surprised when I came to know he was not bothered about such things.

I don't crochet, but right now I'm working on embroidering some tea towels. I have two more to go for the set but it shouldn't take long. The problem is that I don't have much time to sit and work on them right now, with taking care of the garden and company coming and working, too!

Sounds like you have a pretty full plate! I tried embroidering before, but my finger kept fighting with the needle, so the needle stabbed it -repeatedly. As for my garden, the heat index has been over 100, so my garden looks like it's cooked.

I have done some crochet (made a couple of baby blankets last year) but its not my favorite craft. Right now I am doing some cross stitching for birthday and Christmas gifts that I have coming up. I also have to come up with a couple of baby gifts as well, so I am pretty stacked up craft wise. And at some point I would like to do a project for myself and start decorating my own walls. For some of the cross stitching I have to make my own design because there is nothing out there like what I want to do and that makes the whole process more difficult. I have been able to get quite a bit done this summer because I haven't had to work (I teach) and I don't have a yard (live in a condo) so I have been doing a lot of crafting and I am even taking a sewing class right now so I have been making a skirt.

I raise my hook to you. I always wanted to learn how to sew, but couldn't even figure out how to thread the sewing machine. Then when it was threaded, it would break!Aggh! It's funny, that as much as we craft, we seldom make ourselves something.

Sounds great. I have never done a craft show. I was just thinking about doing some Halloween crochet, and wouldn't you know of the tons of yarn I have I don't have any orange! Well it looks like i'll be shopping.

I haven't had the pleasure of doing crocheting for years, but I am starting a few new projects as soon as my kids start back to school, I have decided #1 to make them all slippers with my knitting for Christmas presents, and I also want to make some granny square afghans for them for Christmas, so I will be busy over the next couple of months doing that. Later on, I want to get into Crocheting toys, for the kids, I would rather do that then to buy them something.

That's what I do also. My boys still have crochet afghans I made 24 years ago and still look just as good as when i made them. The store bought ones seem to fall apart after you wash them. I use acrylic yarn since moths do not like acrylic, and it's cheaper.
