one thing i have found out through experience is that, keeping busy and taking action help me to feel more positive and so my title is so true!! the problem of having little thing based from me is that, my mind begins to wanders and focus on the problems and before knowing it, they get magnified and exagerated and i'm into negative thinking again... so do you feel happier by keeping yourself busy...

because busy people have not time to drool over things, neither can they afford the time to whine and grime about the vagaries of life... also, if you ever notice, busy people are more contented with what they have... it's those who have a lot of time in their hands who are not happy with their lot...

one thing that i would want forever in me is to be contended and satisfied of what i have. at the moment, i don't know my greatest desire that i would want myself to focus to.. i'm still on my long off waiting for the president's approval if he will like me to become his personal secretary.... interviews had been made and i am the one who made it through final among the other 5 nominees coming from different contractors.. i am just waiting for one final decision and in "shalla" - if God will permit, this job will really be a big break for me.. thanks a lot Sir!

They say an idle mind is the devil's workshop which I tend to agree. Thus being busy would take you away from this. But I don't think being busy would make one happy. Happiness is a state of the mind which one has inside which could be acquired through meditation, yoga and the like but not necessarily from being busy. When one is happy inside one tends to be happy whether one is busy or otherwise.

Happiness will be achieved in time when you have peace in mind....

hi guys, when we want happiness happen, it happens. on the otherhand, unhappiness is what we feel when what we want to happen does not happen but everyday coping creates happiness and we only could attain if we divert our bad feelings busy doing things positively...

It is true that when you are occupied with some thing or the other the mind does not wander to unwanted thoughts. You become involved in your work and you have no chance to think negatively or dread about the future. If you are free you start worrying before the problem arises .Therefore the best way to be happy is to get involved in some action or the other.

i think happiness depends on our attitudes, nothing to do with busy or not.one of my friends is very busy evryday, but he feels so happy and fulfilling, however, most times i am free, but i feel unhappy.

so it's a mindset just like i have said earlier.. think that you are happy while you are busy... are you alone and you want to make yourself busy anyway???

Hmm.. Do you really mean "busy" people or "active" people? There is a difference in that Kumar. Not all busy people can be happy. Like for instance, broken hearted ladies turn to work harder so as not to think of burgeoning pangs of pain inside. At the end of the day, when they have exerted so much effort in their work, they still come home tired and unhappy. Could it be that you meant "active" people? If you meant active, then yes i would agree that active people are happier as they do not succumb to gossip and malice like idle minds do. Usually active people think of ideas as they hunger for more information that can make their living worthwhile. The problem of the "little things" that cloud your mind is that it is the only thing that preoccupies you but if you bog your mind with new creative ideas, you will soon forget about the "little thing." As they always say, "an idle mind is the devil's playground."

Dear Gracee, I don't see big difference between busy and active people however, of course, after reading your intricate and rich in details response, now I understand. Thanks a lot!

yes really busy people will be really happier...because when they are busy they would like to finish the work on time and get good names from other......only the people who are busy like to finish their burdens and they become happy...they fulfill their needs...and so they are happy......whatever problem crosses in their life busy people could manage it and they could finish it very easily and make happy others and they too become happy.........Atlast i conclude by saying that busy people are really happier.....

welcome to mylot bharatha! you write good and i am very impressed with your answer. thank you so much. so it will all depends on our outlook in life; in our home or household chores, office job etc.. etc.. the key is to work out a plan to achieve and finish the things we want. but how will it happen if we do not keep ourselves busy? for this to happen of course we must keep on moving effectively and efficiently.. so if we finish our things quickly and correctly because we kept ourselves busy, sure ball we had hit and did shoot the ball ringless...

kumar we both know thats really so true, as when we have not a thing to do, we are bored, restless and then start thinking about all that is wrong in our own lives. We forget the positives completely and just sink ourselves into a depression. So if we are super busy are minds are happily occupied with a dozen things and we become positive as opposed to worry and being negative.

Yes Ms. Hatley and I guess most mylotters like us spend their free time busy mylotting. moreover, we have to think positive to every post we come to answer otherwise it will just get deleted.. lol and that could give us a negative one!!

not necessarily. happiness really depends on the person, and this goes for sadness as well. when you're busy, it takes your mind off your problem temporarily because you are preoccupied. but once your work is over, then it all comes back...
• Spain
15 Aug 10
so just keep ourselves busy and be happy anyway.. once our work is over find another or we could just keep ourselves busy on mylotting.. surely we're in a genuine and good company here...

I think the word for that would be distracted. I could be distracted from my worries and problems if I kept busy and it would give me a good opportunity to work on those problems than doing nothing and achieving nothing. So yes, we can be happier with keeping busy and taking matters into our own hands.

That's good. we need to disintegrate our negativity and focus only to the positive side.. thanks for sharing your thoughts here!

hmm I think it depends on what kind of busy you are since if you are busy doing something you are not happy doing then no.

for me, making myself busy is one thing i want to do. because if i am busy i can't get to think something which is wrong like "hmmmn". And getting busy with God is good enough for me to live with a prosperous life. God is good. He is always giving a good life. He never leave nor forsake that is why i am choosing to become busy with God. Spend your time to God is not in vain, because in the proper time I will reap the good things God promised me.

Hiya kumar, Keeping myself busy when things are not going well does help out yes it diverts your attention for quite a while. Even though you know the problems are still there if you keep active as active as you can they will seem a lot less in the long run. I divide keeping busy into different parts sometimes and that keeps all those nasty negatives away for quite an amount of time. Keep busy kumar and hope that you are doing really well.xxx

I agree in a sense that when I am feeling down or lonely I keep myself busy to prevent myself from thinking about the situation that is making me feel bad. Somehow keeping myself busy doing productive things also makes me feel better since I know I am getting things done. :)

the only thing that we have to remember once we diverted our bad feelings into some thing is that, we need to concentrate and focus on that particular thing to make it done.. sometimes mindset doesn't work and i really need a lot of concentrations....
