almost everyone here are fasting. it is the holy month of ramadan and i feel great that i fast too; i am a non-muslim, though. spiritually, i feel that i'm going much closer to God although i don't fast from dawn to dusk as brother muslims does. only during office hours that i use to abstain from taking any kind of foods but i still able to sustain and manage my biological needs throughout the day... could you give me some caution about this, at least in my favor!? lol!... i'm eager to know!
above all, i'm having a very very good breakfast anyway!!

anyway, the fasting being done during ramadan is like reversing the body clock when it comes to the meals... no food from dawn to dusk, but they can eat from early evening to early morning... the fast is during the day... so, if you sleep the night and don't bother to wake up and eat... that through and through fasting... i am not also a muslim... but i have lots of muslim friends...

in a Catholic's point of view, fasting may not only come in the form of food. To us, it means denying the things that we are comfortable with. Like for example, instead of riding a public transportation, you walk your way home and offer it to God as a small mortification for the sins you have committed. When in office, i dont eat as much as i could because i am on a diet and i dont know if this could be considered as fasting as well because it favors my goal to have healtheir physique. One way to fast is that you eat a portion of your food and save a major portion for the hungry people in the streets. And since, you can handle a little morsel, i dont see any reason why i should caution you if you think you can manage.

Ms. Hatley, i do fast during lenten season as well..
it is a part of christian doctrine of turning away sin and back to God..that includes some form of self mortification that Jesus said to his disciples would fast once he had departed.
here in general, Practice during the month of Ramadan is strict..

fasting is one way indeed to open up ourselves for God's presence. It said during a sermon of one of our pastor - fasting opens up ourselves for the holy spirit to come into us, so we can grasp clearly God's wisdom.
I wanted to participate doing such at least once a month, but I can't right now because I am pregnant.
