What was your biggest challenge?

Ten years ago I found a job in a group home for people with special needs in Estonia. I found the job on the internet. I had never been to Estonia before, I didn't know anyone in Estonia, I didn't speak Estonian and I had never worked with people with special needs before.
Everything was new, and I was very nervous, but at the same time I was incredibly excited about all the new things and the challenges that where waiting for me. The time that I spent there lived up to my expectations and I learned a lot during my stay there. It wasn't always easy, but it was a very interesting experience.
In what ways have your challenged yourself? What has been your biggest challenge? How did you handle it and how did it turn out?

well i dont know if this counts as a challenge but when i was 9 my parents decided to move to the Azores. My grandparents and parents are portuguese. When i got here i understood very little portuguese and didnt speak at all. And my mom asked me if i wanted to go to the 4th grade(and stay back a school year) so i could learn to speak better or if i wanted to try going to 5th and learn on my own. I went to 5th grade and passed. I learned fast the language even tough it is a bit hard. I adapted to this new place and i find it wonderful. Not as dangerous as America.
But even after 9 years i still dont speak portuguese with my family.

I think it is great that you managed to learn Portoguese on your own, and I can imagine that it must have been hard for you in the beginning when you only understood very little of the language. I remember what it was like living in Estonia without speaking Estonian, it wasn't easy, but it was a great feeling when I start to understand more and more words, and after a while I was able to understand most of the conversation.

actually when I completed reading some discusses. I felt ashamed because my life have been passing in peace . I have not ever faced biggest trials like you. My biggest challenge only was that overcoming the entrance examination. When I as at high school. I got used to spend my whole time to learn Maths, chemistry and physics. i took much effort to study three subjects . Except eating or drinking and going to school daily, the remaining time is studying. I therefore was successful and became a student till now. It know my challenge is a small thing to comparison with your challenges. Wish that everything is good for us! ^^

Wow, that is a great story! I have never done quite anything so challenging, but I am trying to start making more and more money online now, which is pretty challenging to be honest. So that would be my answer now. It's hard because it takes so long and you need to be so patient, and a lot of the stuff you were counting on don't work out, but you still need to keep going.
But I am pretty confident I can pull it off. Being on MyLot actually gives me some confidence in it too, which is great!

Hi puccagirl! Yes, you need a lot of patience to make money online, and sometimes things don't turn out the way you expected. I have tried that many times especially in the beginning. I got interested in online money making 2 years ago, and in the beginning I was about to give up, because it was a lot harder than I thought, but I am glad that I decided to continue and after a while it got easier.
Hi dweebs_8000_j! I am very happy to hear that you managed to get through that hard period in your life, it must have been a big challenge to manage a situation like that. When I was a nursing student I worked with people to had to face the same kind of situation, but I haven't tried it myself, so I can only imagine what it was like.

Yes, new things are a challenge, and I think that is one of the reasons why I am attracted to new experiences. I find it exciting to learn something new. It is also my experience that things get easier after a while. When I start something new I like to write about it in my diary. Later I can go back and read about my first thoughts and problems, and I can see how much I have learned or in which ways I have changed.

When I read your response I remembered a Danish poem I once heard. It think it is beautiful and I will try to translate some of it for you:
"I have heard an old legend about something that happened in heaven. A child was about to get born and God said to the angels: I need to find some parents who will love and take care of the child. It is a special child and and the parents need to be loving and patient. I want the parents' hands to be like my hands on earth. In the beginning it might be hard for the parents to see that there is a reason behind everything and a reason that their child is special, but if they receive the child as a present it will become a source of insight and faith"

It is good to hear that you completed the job even though you had to figure things out on your own. It is not an easy situation, but I believe that we can learn something from a challenge like that. I had one job where I also had to do everything on my own. I got no introduction and I got a lot more work than I was supposed to on the first day, because 3 people were ill. I was very stressed and busy all day, and I made mistakes, but I managed to get the work done.

My biggest challenge in life was bringing up my four children as good citizens and useful members of society. It was not so easy. I and my wife made many sacrifices to educate them and place them in respectable and responsible positions. When I recollect I am glad that I met that challenge of life fairly successfully though not to my full satisfaction

My biggest challenge is getting two teens to adulthood on my own. I did not expect my husband to be taken from our lives. It can be quite a struggle and a tremendous challenge to deal with this situation alone.

I am not sure which one is the biggest chalenge that I met before. Although we have met so many challenges during our life, but there are no one who can say that they have met the biggest challenge in their whole life.
Perhaps you think the danger at hand is the most difficult time, but when it has become a past time, then you will have to face another difficuilty, which need more time, efforts and patience to overcome.
So, don't try find the biggest challenge in your life, just regard all the troubles at present and try your best to overcome them and gain a valuable experience, then, get ready to another bigger challenge.
