Today, August 14, 2010, is the day when the first ever Youth Olympic Games is hosted here in Singapore. I got really emotional as I was watching the opening ceremony, especially when the TV commentator said that Singapore is such a young country but she has already made history. I know we are supposed to feel nationalistic or patriotism for our country but this is really the first time I felt proud of presenting our achievements to the world. Let us show to the world that we work hard and play hard!
My friends, are there any times when you feel proud of the achievements of your country, whether in sports, economic development or other areas? Please share with us your feelings.

Do try to catch the opening ceremony if you can, it's really exciting and an excellent performance, making full use of the landscape and sea at marina bay.

Just last Thursday when the news was out all of us instantly left the office and lined the road as we waved our national flag when the torch relay past our organization in the south western part, in Jurong at about 11.30 am Singapore time. It was such an awesome feeling especially when we did it spontaneously. We felt real good and real proud of this tiny island we call home, Singapore.

You are so lucky to have firsthand experience of it. I was watching it on TV and already the excitement came through. It must have been really exhilarating there on the road.
Yes, we are proud of you, Singapore

Hi Hatley,
It is always exciting to watch your favourite team play, and especially if they won, and it's more fun to watch with many people.
Singapore is known as the "Garden City" with a lot of greenery, you can see trees, plants, flowers everywhere you look. Even though it is hot and humid here, we get a lot of winds and shade from the trees around.
