How did everyone like Matt Smith as the new doctor?
Is this your first season watching?
Have you watched other seasons?
Who has been the best Doctor for you?
Did you like this last season?
Where do you think it is headed for next season?

I think Matt is GREAT! No, this isn't my first season, and I think Tom Baker is the best Doctor EVER, but I do think Matt is doing a good job - not that David did a bad job, but he was ready to leave, and with all his back problems, I can understand it

Interesting to hear. I saw Tom Brown in what was probably the end of the Sarah Jane episodes and the beginning of the Leela episodes.

I so want to see the Tom Baker episodes. I have a bunch in my netflix queue!!!
Didn't know that David had back problems. I agree with you that Matt is doing a great job. You just can't compare Matt and David because they brought/bring different elements to the show that make the show fantastic!!

I've only seen 4 doctors, the fourth, nineth, tenth, and eleventh. Tom Brown (fourth doctor) had the role for the longest time and for the most episodes. I was just getting into Eccleston, when he gave way to Tennant. I could see a ittle of Brown's doctor in Eccleston's but not seeing the fifth through eighth doctors's I don'tknow how the doctor evolved. Although I didn't think I like Tennent at first, he may now be my favorite. To me, what made him a bit more endearing were the last episodes where he knew that his time was coming to an end and he was afraid of what the might lead to. White I'm still getting used to. He seems more scatter brained and less personable. But that may change.

I have followed the programme for many years and have watched very Doctor from William Hartnell in the first series right up to the present day. I consider David Tennant to have been the most entertaining so far, but Matt Smith is a decent replacement.
Naturally it would be virtually impossible to predict the next Doctor, but the programme has the added advantage of being able to change actors with a justifiable reason.

We started watching when Christopher Eccleston was playing the Doctor. So I can't comment on any of the Doctors before him. :-) We were not quite sure how we felt about David Tennant at first but we grew to like him quite quickly. My son (who is 10) says that Tennant has "great hair"! So funny. I still haven't quite decided whether I like Matt Smith. He just seems so very young which kind of...feels weird.

I too started watching when Christopher Eccleston played the Doctor. Though I just started watching back in April. Thank goodness for Netflix instant watch!!! So, I already knew that Christopher Eccleston wouldn't be around very long. It was a transition when David Tennant came on board and I think it will be the same for Matt Smith.
He brings his own quirkiness to the show. If you notice it is almost like the Doctor is becoming younger looking the older he gets!! Though if the show lasts for as long as the other one and Matt Smith stays on for quite a while it is a good thing they started him at so young. KWIM???
It is weird to see Matt Smith as the Doctor after watching so many episodes with David Tennant as the Doctor, but I think over the next season or so we may see Matt Smith really spark as the Doctor.
Netflix has a ton of the older episodes.

I loved David Tennant as the Dr, infact I love David Tennant, lol. I just can't take to the new chap and because of this I have lost interest and haven't been watching it as religiously as I did before sadly. Do you think I could start a campaign' Bring back David as the Dr'?

I love the show and part of the show is the regeneration thing. So, I decided it really doesn't matter who the Doctor is. I do miss David Tennant, but I am enjoying Matt Smith. Not sure if I would as much as I enjoyed David Tennant, but I am enjoying Matt Smith.
You should watch the new season online sometime. It really is worth it. They could do a special where the three "new" doctors meet up or something. That would be cool! They did it before on the old series.

That was supposed to be "now" not "not". Grrrrrrr. I hate auto correct on my mobile. I also don't like that you can't edit or correct your post after it has gone through.

It took me a long time to warm to Matt Smith, he did have big shoes to fill after Tennant. Out of the new doctors I liked Eccleston the best and I wish he would have done another season. I think that like many fans of the show my favorite Doctor would be Tom Baker, after all he is the one who I grew up with and the one who got me hooked on the show.
The last season was good if a little uneven in places but maybe that was just me trying to get to grip with Matt. They did a good finale with lots of questions still to be answered in the next seasons, so big thumbs up for Moffat on that one

Yes, I love Matt Smith's interpretation of the Doctor. I loved Series 5, and I think it can only get better from here on out! I've watched all the new series and many classic serials. My favorite new Doctor is 11, but I also like 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, and 10.

I started watching in the early 80s on PBS with the 4th doctor Tom Baker. I loved it when it started up again with Christopher and when he regenerated into David I thought he looked doofy. After a few episodes he grew on me and eventually became one of my faves. When he regenerated into Matt I wasn't impressed but not he is growing on me too. I like him better now and so he may grow to be one of my faves as well.
