Hi, The most unforgettable name I have come across was Mary Ferris Wheeler ! : ) It was in a newspaper article and I've never forgotten it even though it was over 30 years ago that I saw it. What strange, funny, beautiful or otherwise memorable name have you come across that you haven't forgotten? Where did you see or hear it? Did you know the person or see it in a newspaper, on TV, on the Internet, or where?

I'm figuring it's Check, and only goes to show that those people have a total disregardful for vowels...

Many years ago, I read a book that had a character named Amberle. I really fell in love with that name. The book was really good and the characters were really well written. For some reason, I really connected with the story and was actually sad when I finished the book because I wanted to read more about their adventures. But, I really liked the name Amberle. In fact, I liked it so much that when my first daughter was born, I used Amberle as her middle name. I wanted it to be her first name, but my wife wasn't as keen on it as I was, so we agreed on it being her middle name.

Hi Thorgrym, That IS a very pretty name. I'm sure your daughter loves it. I bet no other girl in her class had the name Amberle. : ) What was the name of the book? Do you remember? Now you have me curious about the book. : )

It is part of a series of books by Terry Brooks. The book that Amberle comes from is The Elfstones of Shannara. There are now several series about the world of Shannara, all written by Terry Brooks. The Shannara trilogy consists of The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara. There is a prequel to this trilogy, The First King of Shannara. If you are interested in the book - it would appeal to the same audience as The Lord of the Rings - I would recommend starting with The Sword of Shannara. Some people like to start with the prequel, but because it was written after the trilogy, it assumes that you have some knowledge of the world.

Hi Thorgrym, We loved "The Lord of the Rings" series, so I'm sure we'd like these at my house. Thanks for letting me know! Are there any other similar books you are reading now?

Hi Jill, That is a different name. African names can be quite unique. I think African Americans also try to name their children with unique names. It's a pretty good idea, I think. Paradise is a nice name to have I would say.
