That doesn't sound good.. Well I never had to train any of my cats to go in their litter box, they knew since they were kittens. It's usually an instinct for them to go to somewhere where they can bury it.
But if it hasn't learned yet. Whenever it goes pee/poop somewhere it's not supposed to, just pick up the cat and place it in the litter box. You will have to keep doing this but eventually they will catch on.

yup i did that but my cat keeps on pooping on our sofa. some of my friends say that they would use "pieing their poop" on their face so the cat would instill their mind that it is not good to poop on the sofa or bed. can i do that?

Aw no I wouldn't do that. You need to show them where they are supposed to go. Cats don't learn the same way as dogs do. Dogs can learn discipline .. cats? not so much.

First of all, you need to check and make sure the kitty litter is clean. Many cats will not go in dirty kitty litter. If that is not the problem then it may be a behavior problem. Was the cat left alone in the house for any period of time? Many animals do not like being left alone and this is how they show it. If that is the case then the best solution is to put kitty in a small cage when you have to go out and put food, water, bedding and a litter pan in with the cat. It could also mean the cat is sick so if it shows any signs of illness take it to the vet.

Well when thinking of the litter box...
1. Is it open or closed? Some cats wont go in a closed litter pan.
2. What type of litter are you using, and how often is the box cleaned?
3. There are sprays you can get that cats don't like... so if you find one and use it, the cat should stay away from anything with that scent.
4. If you notice your cat is about to go, pick it up and put it in the litter.
5. Also, might want to go on a visit to the vet.
