There is no BEST when it come to antivirus software. Each anti virus software has its own strength and weaknesses, and has its own unique features compared to other antivirus software. Some anti virus consumed too much of system resources which slows down your system significantly. Some are light on resources but does not provide adequate protection and lacking some important feature that an excellent antivirus software must have. Some are compatible with Windows 7, others are not. As a user, you must weigh on which of these are important to you and decides which avntivirus software DO fits your needs. In some cases, you may even decide if you go for PERFORMANCE or PROTECTION. Antivirus software runs on dual or quad core systems BUT some may not work on windows 7 because of compatibility issues. As a rule, you must update your antivirus protection software regularly in order to achieve good protection. Any antivirus software that is out of date is almost useless. I could suggest Avast antivirus, it has a lot of nice and useful features with automatic update of its virus signatures once it is available and it does not slows down your system. Give it a try. I don't think there is no best,but have better one,there is not a kind of antivirus software that can stop every virus,so we have to be careful when we suffer from the net.If you don't want to pay for a antivirus software Avira-AntiVir is a good one,Avast is also a good choose.Hope you enjoy them.Remember you'd better install only one antivirus software.

Hi seljuk_crusader, Viruses depend only on the operating system and has got nothing to with the processor. I am using avast professional and i am quite satisfied with the way it works.

I use ESET NOD32 ver4.0.It's quit efficient.But there is a quesition that I found it is slow to load when I start my system then some other antivirus software. And NOD32 is a little expensive,in my country 2 dollars per month. But there are quite a lot antivirus sofewares are for free.
