Sometimes, I used to travel during night very short distance. During the time, I witness that some of the vehicle use the headlight with brightness. When I travel opposite to that vehicle, I used to stop the vehicle aside and wait for the vehicle to pass through. Because of the Bright light, I used to feel the darkness in the front and nothing will be visible in the front side and I used to stop my vehicle , allowing the opposite vehicle to pass through. So, I am of the opinion that the accident during night happens due to this.Do you agree to this?. air your views, mYlotters.

There are a lot of reasons why these night accidents happen. But yes, this can be one of them. Glaring lights blind us if focused towards us. It's just like pointing a flashlight towards someone's face. This is most disorienting especially when it's dark. It's ALMOST like somebody suddenly turned on the lights in a dark room.
Responsible drivers should put their headlights to dim when there is an incoming vehicle from the opposite direction. Driving is not limited to practical skills but involves responsibility as well as road courtesy.

The driver of the vehicle should take responsibility and try to follow the traffic rules. If the driver takes some responsibility , many accident can be avoided.

I agree with your view and when the street is narrow, i will do the same and pull over. i haven't heard of any headlight related accidents which is good, but i do feel those lights blind you for a good second or two . and its always good to take precautions

For this question our myLot friend shibham had a bitter experience. Certainly, it is the factor for the accident. If the road condition is better and if the way is known then such drivers will control the vehicle accordingly but for others it is difficult to control the vehicle when they are blind by the headlight.

good discussion. i have a bitter experience of it. once me and my friend was coming from a bar and we were in a highway. i was driving my bike and it was light raining and the road was wet. at the same time a truck was coming from front side using upper( head light with brightness). i did not see anything and eventually my bike fell in a pit which was fulfilled with water. luckily we did not fell down but my friend said to stop my bike in front of that truck. i did and he jumped down and picked up a big stone and broke the both head lights of that truck.

I used take more care on driving two wheeler and during night travel I used to take double care.Certainly , we will not know what is in-front of us, when we are focused by the headlight of the vehicle with brightness. In olden days the upper portion of the headlight covered with dark paint and hence the light will not be focused on the rider of the opposite vehicle. That practice is stopped nowadays and hence this problem.Manyaccident happens due to this.

When i use to drive i found that there were alot of people that use to seem to have their head lights on dazzle, aswell as that people use to have their fog lights on when they do not need them on.I do think that you are right that sometimes this could be a factor of some road accidents that happen.

This is one of the main factor for the accident to happen. If, the drivers take care and make the ride pleasant , then there will be minimum accident.

Friend really it is very bad why because i use to ride bike and in night time it is very difficult ride the bikes because while on road opposite vehicles bright light made us to ride without knowing the further root or direction. If anything comes infront of us then only we will come to know other wise if is clear road then we won't get any thing whether the road is good or full of humps. Very difficult for me to ride in the night time.

The road authorities should instruct the vehicle to darken the upper portion of the light so that the direct bright light do not blind the opposite vehicle rider.

i also face the problem while traveling on my bike.there are some rules that half of the headlight should be black coated, but no o0ne follows and not even dim the light, due to this the road will not be visible to the opposite ones.hence accidents occur.these are human errors these can be avoided by using minimum common sense and following the traffic rules.

Well, the cause of most accidents is the visibility being impaired of some way. Therefore, the lights being shined so brightly would be able to impair the driver and thus cause a potential accident. After all, if our eyes are used to a certain quanity of light, then when we get blasted with more, that will cause us to be thrown off.
People have been known to stumble and fall when they are caught with a huge degree of light. Therefore, adding a car into the mix, that is far worse. Accidents happen even in the bright of day but most of them do occur because of impaired vision. Such as fog, rain, and excessive light. Therefore, I agree with you one hundred percent. That appears to be the case a lot of the time.
