Hello friends! Before starting discussions I will search myLot to confirm that the similar discussions have not started. This is because. I don't want my discussion to get erased. But Now I found many are repeating similar discussion or just starting other discussions started by some one. I really don't answer to such discussion unless I found that they are saying something new. Do you agree to me? Will you search for the title before starting it? Thank you!

Yes! Searching the title of your discussions is a really great way to stop deletion. I too do the same thing like you. You know that people in modern age just like getting ideas from other and have no use of their own imagination power. Thus new myloter (specially) just think that by changing the title and making the main thing similar would give a result of high responses and many positive rates. Actually copying others thought just establish that the person doesn't like to use his own brain. I really support you imready in this matter. I am feeling disgusted by seeing many similar posts lately. Wish the mylotters who are copying would start using their own brain!

Yes, I agree with you too! Although, it's undeniable that quite many people ask meaningless questions just to earn a penny... it's a shame but I guess that's one of the big reasons why those people continue 'using' myLot. Seems like admins are improving the rules every now and then, but I guess they've got a long way to go... I believe users like you makes the site better in the future. Happy myLotting, and let's hope those people stop posting junk questions!!

Herro imready Welcome to mylot. May you enjoy the educational and fantastic experience I am having at mylot. I search before I start a discussion because I get tired of seeing the same discussion numerous times. I also search because it isn't fair to other members if the discussion gets deleted due to duplication. Sometimes my searches lead me in a different direction. Sometimes I get a random reward for searching. There are numerous reasons for searching. I have read that some people do not tag because they believe searching is a waste of time. If only they would realize the benefits of our searches. Oh well, that leaves more for me. Prosperous mylotting

I agree with you. We should not duplicate a discussion. It may affect the people who are responding to it. Thank you for your response.

I'd definitely do the same thing that you're doing. Starting discussions in mylot just for the purpose of earning is not my thing. I mean, each of us should at least exert an effort to make sure that our discussion is unique and with high quality.

While that's what the guidelines suggest we do, many don't do that as you have already stated. However you should not judge a discussion based on the title alone. Each discussion deserves to be at least read first. Such will help in situations and you might find you have something meaningful to say. I will glance at a title of a discussion. If the title peaks my interest then I might actually respond. However I'll read the context of the discussion before posting a comment. If the discussion seems doomed for deletion, then chances are I will not respond. Its that plain and simple in my less-than-humble opinion. However, this is only my opinion. Nothing more and should not be taken as anything less.

That is a great idea actually. I've never thought of it, but now that you bring it up I think I'll start doing that. It would also be good to check other people's discussions before you reply to them. Nobody likes getting a huge amount of emails saying their response has been deleted. We can control this by doing a search first.

I'll just try to see them positively. Sometimes there are different questions to the same story. Sometimes you need to see both sides of the coin for your cent worth. Otherwise take it as it comes along.

Once . when I started a discussion i realized its been on mylot before also, but luckily i got few responses, since the older one was days back. i now search for topics before starting one.

I don't really search to see if someone has a similar discussion as the one i am about to post because I feel that my discussions are inspired by my thinking and will reflect characteristics unique to me. But i have seen similar discussions to some that I have posted and i just basically ignore them and let the mylot staff stress over those. And if by some chance they delete my discussion, well then, back to the drawing board for me. While members of mylot may come from all over the world, many have similar problems and situations. It is logical that some may share similar experiences and share them. I think it is neither cost effective nor time saving to read each and every posted discussion just to insure yours is not deleted.

yes ,i think it is a good way to avoid being delete... if the website just fill with all similar discussion ,i think it is boring and some days after maybe many lotters will lose interest on website...so maybe for the administrator ,check carefully is a must as for me ,cause i am a newcomer ,till now i haven't released a new discussion ,i think i should be know a lot about this website and get some friends here ,then i will try to raise a new .... but search is a useful way ,so thank you for your reminding...

I do the same thing. I think a lot of people just don't want to take the effort to search before starting a discussion. Or, they want the credit for starting said discussion instead of just replying. Either way, it's annoying when people don't take the little time required to search for an already started discussion.
