IF someone came up to you and asked for money, how much would you be willing to give?

When I know that someone is genuine and has a real need, I would give anything I had to help them. Right now, I am down on my luck, trying HARD to get back up, and many people are helping me out in many ways. And whenever I can help someone, I am quick to do it. Before my situation got to where it is right now, I gave a man a winter coat, and bought him four bags of groceries at the grocery store, and helped him to take them to his apartment. He was a mentally challenged man who had almost nothing, as he had no family and was living on a disability check of $584 a month, which covered rent basically...another time, I paid the rent for a very cheap apartment and put food in it, went to a church and got a bed, and helped a local homeless woman move into the apartment. After that first month, I helped her to find employment through the Salvation Army, and pay her own way.

Good for you, I hope everyone is returning the favor, ..... I help all I can, but can barely get by myself, so mostly my time, and any thing not being used by us. I have helped family get bills paid, but got that money back,

I do not give out money, but I might buy food or clothes and give it to the person who asked. Might help with school textbooks. I just want to know that my money is actually benefitting the needy.

It depends on what they need if for. I try to give if I think that someone really needs it. If someone is asking for money for food, however, I prefer to just buy them food. But if they are short for bus money or something, I have no problem giving a few extra bucks to them.

I'm not going to lie. If someone came up to me and I didn't know them I probably give them a dollar.

It would depend on what they needed it for. I, myself, would rather by them food or a drink instead of just giving them money. My youngest son and I, have in the past, helped a homeless man when he was in need. He didn't ask us for the money, but we decided to buy him something to eat and coffee to keep warm (as it was heading into winter). We also got him a hat and pair of gloves to try to help keep him warm. My son went as far as giving up his old blanket so the gentleman could keep warm. He used to frequent the convience store up the road from our house. I never seen him ask anyone for anything, but he did have a few that would buy him a sandwich or a drink. I guess in a way, part of the community adopted him. He was hard to understand when he spoke, so we don't know exactly why or how he ended up homeless. He was a friendly guy, that just seemed to be down on his luck.

I guess it would depend on if I knew the person and how well. If I knew they truly needed it for bills of whatever, I think I would just write a check straight to the company that they were in debt of. As far as cash I'd only be willing to give about $10. However, I once knew someone that needed a winter coat for their child and I bought them a brand new one. (So I knew they woudn't spend the money elsewhere).

It depends on who's asking, how much they're asking for, and whether or not I'll get it back. --- --- --- "I certainly think Britney Spears is the devil. The way she projects herself and the fact that she is so obviously vacuous. I think it's such a shame that she became so influential to very small children." -- MORRISSEY --- --- ---
