If you were going to visit a friend from another country and you wanted to bring something from your own country as a present, what would you bring? It could be things like books about your country, music, postcards, souvenirs, handicraft, snacks or something completely different. I usually bring some books, some postcards and some small souvenirs from my country, but the books about Denmark are usually more popular that the other presents, and my friends from other countries enjoy looking at the pictures from Denmark and reading about the country. Sometimes I bring some cds from my country and introduce my friends to some of the popular Danish singers.

If I could get something as presents from my country, I would like to get something that is handicrafts. Filipinos are so creative, they could turn the plain and ordinary shell into something more spectacular souvenirs, just like jeepneys, carabaos, Nipa Hut or any other things. That is what I am proud of.

Hello Porcospino, the jeepneys is our means of transportation here in the Philippines, most handicrafts they are going to used the shell to make a jeepneys look like. Then the carabaos is the helper of farmer we have here, we have lots of rice fields and we used the carabaos as the helper or the farmer. Then the Nipa Hut is a house made of leaves coming from the coconut tree.

I have taken crazy things in the past but now I would not and could not do it. The fisrt time I went back to the US (where I had been as a child) I took my friend there a wool rug made by chilean indians. It was beautiful and HEAVY!!! As time went by, my gifts started to shrink because it was difficult to carry heavy suitcases and later we had to pay if they weighed too much. Beautiful artisan work is easy to take and we have beautiful things here. I also take a piece of lapislázuli jewelry to some friends. Its our national genstone and it is mined in quantities in only two countries in the world. Sometimes I take those books with pictures of my country. THey are usually written in Spanish and English and the pictures are beautiful.

Yes, when we want to bring things to another country we have to think about our luggage as well. I often wanted to bring some heavy things to my friends from other countries, but if I am travelling by plane there are some limitations, and I can't bring things that are too big or too heavy. Artisan work and jewelry sound like a good choice, it is always interesting to bring things that are beautiful and unique.

I hope to visit China one day, that is one of my dreams. I have a friend who has been to China some years ago. She liked your country a lot and she wants to go back another time. Right now I am going to focus on Europe and I plan on travelling around in Europe in less than one month but hopefully I will also get the chance to visit Asia one day.

I would bring a book of different pictures in my state. I live in such a beautiful part of the country, so I would love to share that with family and friends in other countries. I also love receiving books the show the culture of the people....it is like going to that country personally.

Tea, silk and china are the symbolic products of my motherland China. So I will take them as my present. Books or other things which can represent Chinese culture are also good choice, but how many foreigners can read and understand them fully is a question. A American wrote his understanding of wugong in Jin Yong's wuxia novels, it really made me laugh. Different culture determines different ways of thinking.

When people from other countries read the literature from your country they sometimes have a completely different way of intepreting things, because their culture is different. I have tried that sometimes when I have introduced my friends from other countries to the Danish literature like Piet Hein or Peter Hoegh. When I read Danish literature that are many things that I take for granted, but a foreigner looks at the books with "fresh eyes" and interpret things according to their own culture and that can be interesting and funny sometimes.

Handicrafts sound interesting, I think it is a nice present. I like seeing handicrafts and other things from around the world. It is interesting to see things that are different from the ones that you find in me own country, and it is a way to learn more about other countries/cultures.

Well, our place produces one of the best guitars in our country. So, I'll surely bring a guitar. Last time I visited my cousins in Australia, I brought them a new accoustic guitar.

I would definitely take a wooden craft.People in my country, in my place, are good with wood works. They carve really good designs in wood and make amazing things. Specially, the old designs of the Malla king's time are very good. So maybe i'll take a big aankhejhal designed frame. The dark chocolate brown colored would be good.

I do hope one day I can visit Denmark and listen to their songs too. Learning about other countries cultures and people is very enlightening and full of knowledge wealth.

HI, I am from Indonesia and there are plenty type of snacks from my hometown. For me, I prefer to bring back some special snacks(like kue lapis, bika ambon, and others) for my friends as a gift for them. I am not fancy about postcards,so it is out from my point.

I have eaten some different snacks from Indonesia, because I have a friend from Indonesia who lives in Denmark, and she has introduced to different kinds of food, but I don't know the names of the snacks or the dishes. I love to eat food from different countries and I am always excited when my friends from other countries bring something from their own countries when they visit me. I don't like all of it, but I still find it very interesting to taste their food.

There is an Indian shop in one of the big cities on my island, they sell clothes and many other things. I have bought some clothes there, a.o. some very beautiful dresses. If I ever get the chance to visit India, I would like to buy more clothes. Silver jewelery also sounds like a nice present.

I usually take gifts that are traditional to the country, such as food, ornaments or quirky tools. The country i would be buying the gifts in would most likely be Lapland, so I would bring back things like cloudberry jam, Kuksa(traditional wooden cups) or something made from reindeer antler. These all seem pretty popular amongst my friends. Birdie -

I would love to eat your cupcakes and cookies They are probably different from the ones that you find in my country, and I always enjoy eating food that I had never tried before. Yes, there are so many different kinds of food around the world and it interesting how people like different things. When I was living in Scotland I made a Danish apple cake. I made it the way we make it in Denmark, and people didn't like it, they thought that it wasn't sweet enough. I had to change the recipe and add some more sugar. When I was living in Poland I made the same kind of cake (the traditional recipe without the extra sugar) and people didn't like it, because they found it far too sweet
