Do you earn by doing what you love to do?

I sometimes get jealous with those who can earn by doing what they really like to do. While I, myself, finding myself doing what I don't really like to do. Every time I wake up in the morning, I only find myself doing this because of an obligation, that if I don't do it then I will not be able to survive in this life.
I really like if I could write and earn with that. That I can make my living through writing. I just think I don't work hard enough.
What about you?

So far so good considering that online money making is just a part time cause I have a day job to do. I have been able to reach the minimum payment per month here in myLot several times already. Me too loves to write and when I know something, it just seems that my fingers won't stop scribbling anymore. This is the reason also why I kept on visiting most of the time to those under my interests. Another way of earning is to make have your own website and monetize it. It's a good way to earn passively. There are also sites that accept article submissions, photos and videos which you can have a passive earnings as well. Recently, I tried freelance writing (not that I am good at it) and I am just hoping that I will be able to earn something from it. The only thing that I can advice to you is, you must love what you want to do and not just be obliged on a thing so you will be able to pursue what you like.

Yes, I totally agree with you that we should love what we do, and not only feel obliged to do so. When we are obliged to do something, the result will be just so-so. Not maximal at all.
But all the things I can say is, I am doing what I love to do in my part time, and hoping that can exchange my current job's income.
I love writing here on mylot and sharing with all fellow mylotters. I love to write and love to share.
Good luck with your freelance writing as well. ^^ I wish I could do it someday. Be optimist!

I sell sea glass jewelry and love searching the beach for it & using it to make jewelry. I'm not really fond of promoting my shop, but as a small business, I guess it's part of the process of selling items.
I wish it would pay all my bills and expenses, so I could do this full-time, but it does help pay some bills. It's a lot of fun, and I really enjoy sitting at my craft table, creating new items.

Wow, nice to hear that. ^^ I love seeing others doing the job they love. When someone doing what they like usually they will achieve their very best. They will learn more easily than ever.
At this meanwhile, I am doing mylot. And I used to write on Helium.com, but since I am busy with mylot, I rarely write in there.
As you like creating new items, I like creating new pieces of poetry. Haha..
Happy creating, anyways. I believe that you will be big one day.. :)

Fortunately, I have a job that I enjoy with very much. And, it is a decent ompany too. Writing is my hobby too. It has been my favorite hobby since my high school years, and is still is. I do keep busy writing short stories, articles, reviews, etc. online these days, enjoying my hobby, and at the same time making some extra income.
Best wishes to you !

I don't really earn that much money doing what I like to do. If I could, I wouldn't ever stop drawing. But normally people don't really care too much about my art, which is what I do. I like to write as well, so I guess I am doing what I want on this website, just not as much money as I wish I could make, you know? :] I don't think this is the type of writing I want to be doing to make money, but I suppose it is better than nothing! :D

Dear hestylim, I have the same worry as you. Yea, some people are really lucky. They found something that they really like and decided to earn money through that path. Some really lucky ones can earn a six figure salary just by doing that something that they really like. I'm also like you, having to do something that I don't like just because of an obligation. I'm also trying to find something that I really like so that I know where to go later in life. It's tough, trying to find something that satisfies our passion. But, if we just earn money and survive like we need to just because of an obligation, we may not progress further. This doesn't matter about whether we work hard or not. It's a matter of finding our direction in life. If we find the right direction, then good luck. If not, keep on finding. I wish you all the best!

Yeap. You are right, if we don't do anything and just do the things we don't like, we will not get further.
I like writing and wish to earn from my books. I have finished a book and I think I need to edit it once again. I edited it before. But when I let my friends read it, they think I should edit it once again.
I hope you can find the things that you like to do as well. ^^ Wish both of us a good luck!

My husband writes for a small website about financial advice and saving for tougher times to come etc which is a nice little boost for him and his career. Our online money is used just as a boost for an investment project of ours as we both are working. I do feel it very important to be motivated and love the work you are doing as it will help you be more successful and happier. Best of luck with your writing.

It's Funny how many people pretend to be so happy working and maing pennies here and there. they all write a storry how great the pay is! and at the end, they all tell you how much they worked to earn their first $10...
I will have to say that's all bull Shirt! You are liers to yourselves. I hate that all people waist thier valueble time on small pennies, are you that low? Do you really think that you desirve that? Why can't you make good money for your time!?
I love what i do and won't lie, i do not get payed pennies, i do it free.. i actualy give money away, visit my profile and read story of my life!!!!

Well, tvdsoccer.. If you don't like earning pennies, then don't insult others. I am doing this not because of the pennies for every piece of my writings. I just love to write, to share and to help others who need advice.
I think without pennies, there will no be dollars. So, don't underestimate that pennies.
Congratulation with yourself who has reach that high payment. ^^

Hi! I love what I do and earn from it too.
If you feel being obligated and don't like what your doing maybe you can take a break and relax. Sometimes, that helps.
Like me, if I feel stressed out, I just watch a movie and dine out, the following day I'm back at my feet again.

It's really frustrating if you are doing the things that you don't like but have to do it because it gives you your bread and butter in life. That's what I am into for the past 26 year of working. My job is not really the kind of job I really wanted to work, but it provided me a better income, and I don't have the courage to give up my job which gives me a steady income, and go to a baking business which i love to do and i wasn't sure would prosper. Now, I am preparing my retirement and i will give my love for baking a chance and take time for it.

Absolutely! I can not work at job that I dont like for to long it weighs on my physically mentally and spiritually. I might want to restate that though. I have worked at jobs I didnt care for but if there was a moral issue where they were ripping people off like some of these debt consolidation companies then I would quite its not worth it to me. I have to be able to respect myself and be happy with what i'm doing for a living.

I agree with you. But I don't have any more ways to quit the job. I am trying to find ways to earn in the way I love. But just not finding one yet. Doing in mylot is a lot of fun to me, but it just not enough yet to make my living.
It doesn't mean I don't respect myself for doing the job that I don't really like now. But I still have no options. I am creating the options now.
Wish me good luck. And I am happy to hear that you do the things you love to earn and make your living. ^^ Have a nice day.
