Why do we wear clothes?

To avoid lust? Maybe infections? Sun Protection? Temperature? Why do most people feel embarrassed when seen naked? I think maybe because we are not used to it so it is an awkward feeling and maybe some self insecurities and feeling vulnerable to things. I don't like being seen naked because I think its unacceptable to our society specially in public but some beaches in the world do accept them. Why is it indecent to be naked in public?

Well, it is a nice idea... Going around naked... I'd love it, if we all started doing that... LOL.. I believe, the compulsion of cloths is hidden in the roots of 'civilization'. Even the red Indians in Americas in the 16th century would go about naked, but they had something to cover their privates. I believe the nature teaches us to hide and protect our body in cloths...

Well, the origins are hard to pinpoint. I guess it just differs from culture to culture.

Well, that would be awkward to be honest, if everyone is naked. How do I put this delicately...most people are not all that pleasing naked. I'm sorry if that comes across as mean, but that is just a fact of life. It would be an uncomfortable scene in fact whether someone is perceived to look good or not without clothes, but for different reasons. Plus, we've worn clothes since the day we were born. It is something that we are used to doing. It would be quite a change of philosophy not to wear clothes. It is just considered socially acceptable to wear clothing. Let's face it, even though standards of decency have relaxed quite a bit over the years, they have not relaxed all that much. Therefore, it is just plain awkward for a variety of reasons.

Well, as "civilized" humans, I say all of the above. We wear clothes to avoid lust, infections, sun protection, temperature, and you name it. We wear clothes for all kinds of reasons. We wear clothes for fashionable purposes. We wear clothes to hide things that we don't want people to see. There are so many reasons for us to wear clothes.

Yeah,no matter from the physical protection side or mental one,it is an overwhelming trend to make our humans put on clothes.

While I have to admit that there are women that I would LOVE to see naked, there are also A LOT of them that I DO NOT want to see naked. Also, I am quite sure there are NO men that I want to see naked, so I am glad that people wear clothes. I have to say that protection from the weather is another good reason for wearing clothes. I don't know about you, but I don't want to walk around sunburned, and walking around naked when the weather is cold can cause you to get sick. Wearing clothes is a good thing, and the more overweight you are, the more conservatively you should dress. Trust me...no one wants to see your fat rolls flopping around...LOL However, being hott and sexy doesn't mean that you should walk around half naked either, so even if you have a smoking hot beach body, dress more conservatively, because leaving more to the imagination will make guys respect you more...

Well I don't know about you, but I don't want to see a bunch of dongs flopping all over town. LOL

LOL! Fats flopping around is kind of funny but when it's viewed in public then er-hmm, excuse me. It would be too much of a disgrace to that person who is showcasing his or her fats. I've seen a woman who was wearing a shirt which was quite revealing. She wasn't hot. Her fatty stomach was flopping around and people were laughing. I was wondering why people were laughing and that was when I saw her.... LOL!

My religion teaches to always cover the aurat (parts of the body that must be closed). Using revealing clothes have a ban. Be required to wear clothing. Naked is a very despicable act. If there are naked people in public, can be equated with animals.

May I ask, is there something wrong being equated to animals?

Okay I see your point. That's what your religion teaches you. Well, maybe you guys should watch animal planet and see how white people see animals. You are right animals have no free will.

We are human beings, should we behave as human beings. Animals are creatures who have no shame. Animals were created no intelligence. As humans we are created with the mind and thoughts.

Well i wear clothes because i dont want everybody see my private area. That should only be seen by my special someone. I want it to be like a secret place which you require a key to open. And love is the key. One more thing, i aint embarrass about it because my body is so awesome. The only prob i have is that my leg is small but everything else is ok, especially that THING, between my legs which is BIG.

You know what they say about men who feel the need to brag or even talk about that part. It either doesn't work, or they don't know how to use it or it's not big enough.

To be honest this is the first place i ever brag about it. I never in real life. People who knows me would rather hear me say it is small rather than big. I am just that type of person. And the only way someone who knew me would hear about the size of it was if they actually felt it and it isnt meant for everyone, just for the special one. I aint a bragster. I just use mylot to express my feelings that i wouldnt do in real life.

But there are still many people who like being naked. There are still many streaking incidents every year all over the world. Well, just kidding, then back to your topic,I think as the degree of our civilization is rising and rising,it is a quite normal thing that we feel ashamed and embrassed when we are naked. We all want to look graceful and beautful, then clothes have become one of the methods to hide our physical flaws.Meanwhile,we all have privacy that we don't want others to see.

Some people think that get naked in public area is usual, but i don't like that.Same with animal that doesn't have good attitude.GOD create human being with higher level than animal. So i think if people still get naked in public society, he is the same with animal.

Due to the climate of the earth various from cold to hot, wearing suitable clothing is essential to preserve own body temperature. It's basic logic for all of us to know that clothing protects us from harmful weathers in the place we lived in. I don't think it's related to decency and embarrassment. But somehow due to current customs and religions, clothing to cover the body is being related to avoid lust and differentiating us from animals.

mostly insecurities what the t.v. put in our head as perfect and most of our bodies dont look like that. so we feel ashamed to let anyone see us. it also has alot to do with cultural acceptances too, and the fact that you;re fined if not properly clothed.

If mankind can sing like a polar bear fur,I think do not have to wear clothes.Human beings are a civilized society, dressed in addition to the role of protecting the body also modesty.Since ancient times people woule understand this.Their time at home can try the primitive life.Naked at hom,but be sure to lay the curtain ah!

personally i would love to not wear clothes but there is a law so we cant go naked everyday but also clothes keep us warm and protect us from rain so it is a good idea to wear clothes. in the house i would wear a pair of shots and a t-shirt unlike the street i would wear a pair of jeans and a jumper seeing others naked can be funny but great to see because lust would be the best thing of the day !!! but i would hate for people to see me naked becasue i would be embarresed and afraid.

Hello Gfp, If we were born and used of being naked, there will be nothing wrong to be naked everywhere, becoz there will no lust and temptations seeing naked people. But since we are not get used to it,we need to wear clothes as protection from weather and also same reason with what you have written above. If some people had the guts to get naked in public (beaches in particular) it is becoz, they want to show what they have not to mention the exhibitionists and some crazy people. For me i consider it indecent, coz, not everyone has the same thinking. If for some people it is fine to see naked people, but i guess the majority doesn't agree with it.
