Don't believe that life in the U.S. is anything like you see on television. That is PRETEND. I'm happily married, living in a safe neighborhood, and don't personally know anyone who has been murdered. I love this country--despite the mess that President Obama and the Congress are currently making of it.

The politcs is nothing for common people especially those middle stage.
They help the upper, so that they can get something in return; they help the poorest, so that all society seems in the harmony.
We are not the toppest neither the worst, so nothing is benefical for us.

I can guarantee you our lives are nothing like the lives of the Desperate Housewives. We don't go around killing one another. Most people are very normal and very nice. Most of us go about our days taking care of our kids, and going to work or staying home to take care of our kids. Sure there are divorces but not all of us get divorced. I have been married for nearly 21 years and don't plan on getting divorced ever. I have friends who have gotten divorced, but I also have friends that have been married for a long time. Most of the people I know that got divorced got married very young, and most of them are remarried now and the second marriages are all going much better for them. But as far as the killing that rarely happens in normal neighborhoods, there are bad neighborhoods where it happens sometimes, but most neighborhoods are very nice and perfectly safe.
