Do your kids get vaccinations?

I have 2 kids and I have following the vaccination plan completely for both of them. They are on schedule with all of their vaccinations. Because of this neither on of them had to suffer through childhood illnesses. I had chicken pox as a child and I am so thankful there is a vaccination for that now so my kids did not have to suffer through it.
Some families that I know do not get their kids vaccinated. I would think their kids are more likely to get sick than kids that do get vaccinated. What do you think? Do your kids get vaccinated?

I am still a kid, but my mom has always gotten me vaccinated. I haven't gotten very sick at all in my life, and luckily none of the things I got vaccinated for have happened to me, and I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to get their gets vaccinated! I believe that if you get them vaccinated, and a Chicken Pox epidemic strikes, then they won't get sick, and you won't feel guilty. :D

Back onto this discussion, I just got two shots today! :D One was for HPV and the other was for something I didn't exactly bother to figure out what it was, I'm just grateful I got them. As much as some of them hurt, they really are worth it! The HPV shot hurt like a mother, but in the end I feel lucky that I got it so that I don't be bothered by such a horrible thing in the future. :]

That is great that you respect your parents decision to keep your vaccinations current. It really is for a good reason that we put our kids through getting poked with needles!

I only get a few vaccinations, not all. Why that is? Because I always ran away during vaccination and when I had to have my blood taken. I have never suffered from any typical children's disease. I don't think I am going to take any vaccinations in the future other than the vaccinations you need to be allowed to work. Also I am not going to get vaccinations for swine flu or birth flu or whatever flu there is. It wouldn't suprise me in the least if our corrupt government throws all kinds of stuff in it to make us die younger or something.

I remember as a child it would take the nurse, doctor and my mom to hold me down for my vaccinations!! What a memory :)

My son is completely vaccinated and will remain so. I've been bombarded with advice against vaccinations from friends and family but I just politely thank them but then let them know I disagree and my son will remain vaccinated. I am not blind to the number of children that have reactions as my family believes but I am also aware of the larger numbers of children worldwide suffering when they could not be. There is also the safety issue. I offended a few cousins when I banned their children from my house when my son was an infant because they had not been vaccinated and my son was too young at the time and at risk. Also here all children must be vaccinated to enter daycare and for good reason! I can understand parents being scared (heck I was!) but I can't understand how they can put not only their children but other peoples children at risk due to that fear.

Everyone is free to make their own decisions concering their kids but sometimes they offer advice when it is not welcomed. Your kids safety is your responsibility and whatever action you decide to take should be respected.

Hi,
I get my son vaccinated for all the necessary vaccines based
on the lis that given by the doctor. So far, my son has completed
almost all opf the vaccines, except Pneumococcal.
I supposed to bring him for Pneumococcal vaccine when he reached
2 years old, and it has been delayed till now.
Everytime when I told him to go for vaccine, he will keep
telling me "no'no"..pain pain. So pity to see him like this and
it makes me to keep delaying.
It is best to get our kids vaccinated on whatever necessary,
to give them the best protection.
The most expensive vaccination is Pneumococcal and it is not a
compulsary. But from my point of view, it is best to give it to our kid.

It is painful and we know that. But it is such a small price to pay for good health. I have always been honest with my kids and tell them when it is time for vaccinations, I don't want them to be surprised when the nurse walks in with needles :)

Vaccinations are very important, and as much as we can, we provide that to our son. and so far, he is completing it. though, as for chicken pox vaccines according to doctors, the vaccination for chicken pox do not eliminate them, the possibilty of having it. It's just lesser itchy and no high fever as for those who are not vaccination. We really can't blame parent who can't afford the boosters. It's quite expensive. and all in all, it's imprtant to shield them incase they having low immune system. But I know kids, who do not completed the booster but pretty healthy.

Thankfully we have good medical insurance that pays for the vaccinations. But I understand that it would be difficult to afford them otherwise.

The vaccination is not as useful as many may think. Yes they give us instant defence against many diseases, but if you look carefuly you will notice that among the children disease caused by allergies are more frecvently. this is ude to the vaccination, that more and more are available. it doesn't means that my child hasn't been vaccinated, but it means that i won't get him every single vaccine that is one the market, he will have to go through some childhood diseases, for his imunesystem to be stronger.

Hmm I do agree with some of what you have said. My sister is a nurse and she does not believe that I should take (or give the child) every vaccination. She also says that some should be left to strengthen the childs immunity.
Much like the cockcroach concept..lol.. you know.. a cockcroach body will eventually build immunity against the sprays that we use to kill them.
But in Singapore some vaccinations are not compulsory but those vaccines for merengistis, rubella and measles, I will make sure I do not miss them.

My daughter, who is seven years old is fully vaccinated. However, my son that is going to be four years old in just over a month is only partially vaccinated. I opted to delay his vaccinations because of the fear of autism and things like that. We will have him vaccinated before he starts school, but we still have a year to do that.
Now, with the exception of those things that every child gets (colds, ear infections, etc.) he has never been sick. In fact, he is healthier than his sister when I really start to think about it.

I dont have kids yet but when I am going to have one, I am surely going to give them vaccinations. These things are very necessary. Some vaccinations are even very expensive but parents should think that they are going to spend more if the child gets sick so its better to get a vaccination as a protection.

I think vaccinations for the kids are very important. Here in Singapore there is a vaccination for polio. I would rather face a crying child anytime when she/he is being vaccinated then to have them attacked by dangerous dieases.
About chicken pox vaccination, I am still thinking about it. The others seems pretty easy but with chicken pox, the procedure is to treat the child as if she is really having the illness so I am hesitating. What is your experience and how old are your children when they have the chicken pox vaccination? Thanks

Here in the USA my kids were given the chicken pox vaccination at 1 yr old. They had no side effects from it other than the usual fussiness after any vaccination. I was 7 or 8 when I had the chicken pox and I I remember the pain and itching very well. I am so glad my kids didn't have to get it!

Yes and i have always been vaccinated. I have also always thought though that it may have been a good idea for me to get a natural immunity to these diseases. But always better safe then sorry. Some people also still think that vaccinations can cause autism, but this has been disproven. Some people, however still think this can be one of the reasons for the explosion of autistic children but there has never been a link to vaccines and autistic children.

Yes he is complete with all vaccinations including the latest a(h1n1) vaccination. Although there are risks on those vaccinations, I think I prefer it over the risk of getting those illnesses.

My kids get an annual flu shot but their doctor last year didn't feel it was super important to get the h1n1 shot. We had very few cases here. Luckily they never got the h1n1 flu even though they were not vaccinated against it.

Our first child went through a lot of vaccination. A naturopathic doctor recommended something else to us due to vaccine side effects that you've got to hear from them yourself. His recommendation was a combination of natural vitamins, dietary patterns, sleep patterns, etc. I wouldn't recommend vaccination; but in the same breath I caution you against dropping it without a new scheme. The reason why we have our kids vaccinated is to protect them from illnesses. We change the mechanism but adhere to the objective.

We all have heard about some conspiracy going on in vaccines but also you have to know that actually vaccines are effective, maybe it can get some second effect but work on the actuall disease and the second effects will go away in a few days, so yeah i would do get my kids vaccinated.
