I found this article about President Obama's status as a natural born citizen. The article is quite detailed and at the end of it there is a challenge "If you have nothing better to do, you might share these facts with your own captive birthers and see how they respond". While I do have better things to do I accept the challenge. After reading the article do you think he has debunked the whole birther conspiracy notion? What parts did you find in error? http://open.salon.com/blog/sagemerlin/2010/07/14/obamas_citizenship_finally_established_beyond_reproach

Great link k but I've been screaming about the U.S. Code for a year and those who are so determined that Obama is not eligible to be the president conveniently ignore it. There have been so many accusations thrown into the mix...intentionally...in order to justify the baseless kornspiracy theory.

Thanks Spalladino, I thought it was worthy of some consideration, lol. He went to great lengths to explain, research and explain some more. Are you blue in the face yet? :)

The only reason I'm not is because I take a break in between to breath in...breath out...breath in...breath out.

There is a second part to the citizenship debate. That is was he adopted by his step father in Indonesia and then (through his mother) renounced his US citizenship. There have been leaks that he received financial aid as a foreign student. I am not saying that he is or is not a citizen I am just pointing out that there are other issues with his citizenship.

No parent or parents can renounce US citizenship for any child. The citizenship is held until the child comes of age and he or she decides to keep it or renounce it. If Inonesia required a renunciation of US citizenship from a parent who wanted Indonesian citizenship for their child, the US would not recognize that renunciation either since no foreign country can renounce US citizenship. US citizenship is basically inherent in the circumstances of a child's birth and only the person who has that inherent citizenship can renounce it. It cannot be renounced for them by a parent, guardian or foreign power. The only person who could renounce Barack Obama's citizenship is Barack Obama.

How wonderful that you posted this. Maybe it will silence all those who question the right of Barak to be our president, but probably not. Those who are so vocal about all this wouldn't believe it even if it came from their higher power.

Thanks lacieice, I found it informative and detailed. Something most information on this subject lacks.
