What is with WOMEN and SHOPPING ?

I think it is because women are a bit more superficial than men, and also get bored more quickly than men. I do think there are guys out there that shop a lot, they just buy other things than clothes and accessories instead!

I think you're actually completely right on this fact. Aas for the question, I think that women love shopping more then men simply, because we spend more time working on our look, so we always want to look nice and in order. also as already pointed out, we get pretty sick of the same clothes pretty fast, therefore some new pieces always makes us happier in in a good mood too. while on the other way around, men too love shopping, but they're not so worried about having tons of different clothes, so I think men buy quite a lot too, only that they mostly spend it on accessories like watches and stuff.

Men buy big time toys, whether they need them or not, example my son, who on a whim ran out and bought a harley, just to find he didn't really need it and sold it some months later to get out from under the payment. The women I know shop for their kids at the 75 to 90% off racks in stores like Khols and Macys. But I do understand what you are saying, I play cards on a site where one woman in her 60's has her 70 year old husband working 2 jobs and a extra one at night, so that she can afford her spending habits. She comes into the lobby to brag about her $200. sandals,she just bought, now who in their right mind would pay that much for sandals, well I guess if you was a movie star you could, but I wondered how long her hubby had to work for her to be able to do that. These are people with no life, people that believe that spending shows how rich they are. Most women shop in a conseritative way, to get clothes for the family, especially in todays market with the prices. Men however do not care what the cost of something is, they are in no way trying or thinking about saving money, only that they want it. If a man pays 200 for something that he needs that is really worth no more than a 100 then he isnt' too smart or should shop around. Do you want your wife, if you have one to go out looking like she is put together or just what ever she can put on, some women think they have to have a purse for every color shoe they have, I have 3 one white one black and one brown. Because people look down on you carrying a white purse with black shoes. Although the purses now a days I don't think it really mattes what color shoes you got. Women want to look their best when they go out, things like purses and shoes are important to them, where a man gets up throws on a pair of jeans and a shirt and goes out the door, their hair usually short so they don't need the time or expense to keep it up. I think most women are smart shoppers, of cours there is always the ones like I mentioned above that want to stay ahead of the Jones, but most women shop smart.

For some women, well yeah, what is it with women and shopping. I am a woman but I am always practical when it comes to shopping. I only buy things that I need. I only have 2 pairs of shoes I usually wear when I go to work and another 2 more pairs when I go to church. I just wait for them to get destroyed then I buy a new one.

I think it is just natural that women and shopping goes well together. It is a nice feeling that you can go there and shop and shop oh my gush it is a nice feeling. I think it depend if the men has money ok that is good coz you can have both money and shopping lol

Oh yes, I whole heartedly agree...and I am one of those women! Actually that's not entirely true, I don't love to shop...but if I see a bargain then I will buy it..then often regret it at a later date, especially as I like to think of myself as not being materialistic but keep buying things...ergo, I must be materialsitic! Funnily enough I read a quote the other day that fits this discussion really well....and particularly those women who buy those bargains when they don't need them ( putting my hand up here ) 'A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist'

Okay, most women love shoes, bags and clothes, sadly, I am not really one of these women. I have clothes, shoes, and bags, but most of them aren't famous name brand stuff, and most everything I buy is on clearance. I don't really like to shop for clothes and shoes, because I don't think that I look good in most of the things that I buy. I love shopping for books and music.

Hi incus99, Yes, of course most women like to shop more than men. Women are into fashions and beautiful surrounds like their homes and good looking children. Men are more low-key when it come to frilly items, whether they are personal or for the home. Men and women are not cut from the same cloth, my mother use to say. In other words, men and women are not suppose to think exactly alike. If that were the case, it would be a dull world, don't think? Men love themselves some sports, like basketball, football, golf, deep sea fishing, wild game hunting, etc.,They love their car collections and getting them detailed even if they don't need it. Oh, and lets not forget the bikers club with all the motorcycles riders (some are women). Guys like us girls because we are frilly,pretty an smell good. I don't think too many men would like us women if we didn't go shopping for all those dress up clothes and bags. Girls let guys to their thing and guys should let girls do their thing. Differences make the world more exciting.

It's because we just love it so much because we can't help it we want to look good you know. We want to look stylish because then we feel ugly if we don't have pretty clothes if we don't buy pretty clothes, or bags, or shoes then we feel ugly and that really gets us down. I admit that I am now a major shopholic I wasn't before, but now I am I just can't help it because then I see another women with nicer things and then I look at myself and I don't like what I see. We really do care about our apperance I think that maybe their is some men that also enjoy shopping as much as we do like my brother he likes to shop, but not a lot like me, but he does care about his image it's always brands with him like the other day he just had to buy shirts from the van store because they were having a huge sale and boy was it crowded in their. Still he bought two shirts for thirty dollars with thirty dollars I could buy a lot more than just two shirts. I guess he will buy it as long as it is brand, but as for me I like to hit the clearance and sale items so that I can mix and match and feel more confident in my looks. While I was at the mall I saw two korean women and they did look like models the clothes they were wearing their shoes their bags everything looked very pretty. Anyway yes we women love to shop to look our best.

Shopping for me is a kind of entertainment. When I was down, when I was disappointed when I was dispirited, shopping helps. Moreover, as a woman I like to present myself differently from the others, mostly in term of fashion. Buying something cheap which look different is interesting, even most of them are unusable. In a way, shopping is a way to entertain ourselves.

am with you in this article .... am also thinking that women enjoying more than men while they are shopping... but some time they are not getting opportunity for that...... I urban areas women getting equal consideration like man for shopping...but the scene of rural are is entirely different... In rural areas women getting only very less opportunity to shoppe for them.... there always men doing such things.... I think it is better to go with out them for shopping...because they are very expensive....na??????/

I agree that sometimes women do buy things they don't need because they're at half the price. I always love a good sale myself. I actually have many clothes and I haven't worn most of them but I know I will later when my current clothes get worn out so why not buy them when they're half the price and save some money. Women have more options of clothes and we just love to shop. We can either buy dresses, shorts, skirts, or jeans and as for guys well all they pretty much get is jeans and shorts. So I guess we love to shop because we can mix around outfits and it's just fun. I actually can't leave the mall until I at least buy one good clothing item or some accessories.

i don't know why woman likes to go shopping very very much, when refer to shopping ,woman shows huge power and when they are in and out each shop ,they do not feel tired ,when they finally go back home ,they will always say i am exhausted... they can spend a whole day to go shopping , and sometimes just go back home with empty , so sometimes i admire them very much and men will buy anything at 200 when its really worth 100 ,i am not agree with this. for me , i always bargain with seller ,hope i can buy it with a cheaper price ,not just give he/she money as he/she requires ,maybe some man doesn't do that ,ha

Personally speaking I love to shop not just for myself but for the whole family as well. Shopping is one form of relaxation for me, maybe for women in general.

It is because women are more conscious about how they look . Everything must be in perfect coordination and must give them the look they want to achieve that's why they do shopping more often than men do. I asked some of my girl friends that question. Some of them told me its one of their ways to relax or remove some stress. Some of them finds it as a really fun activity. Some of them don't know why but they just want to do some shopping. Anyway we men won't really understand. I think its the same as the activities we men enjoys. Let's just support the girls in our life. And for sure they will do the same to us.

I am a woman and I absolutely HATE shopping! When I have to go to the store, I go in get what I have to get and get out. I don't like being in a store at all. Maybe that's why I don't really get along with other women, huh? I have always had guy friends, never really women. I always wondered why and now I guess I know...

Ya, my girlfriends love to shop till drop.I learn earlier it is better give them the cash and ask them to buy themselves rather that buy everytime they want something.I notice also things they buy with their own money they value and take care more, if i buy they will dump here and there, well atleast my girlfriend.i think women like to mix and match stuffs that way they want to shop.When they shop , in their brain they are comparing all the stuffs they have in their cupboard that way they take so much time.

Love is shopping. it feels so good to shop and buy what you want and think of all the places you're going to wear it too! finding a sale is a great thing too and really makes you excited to find something you like for a great price.
