Lord of the Ring 3 : The return of the King , for me is the best part of the 3 part sequel, it featured more inter racial wars with many magic and splendors. Though at the end the ring was dissolved in the very forge of lava whence it was crafted and that Sauron was vanquished my a mortal, I still wander to the possibility that their will be another sequel to the trilogy. What do you think? DO you have a good title for the new sequel?

Well I think there should be a movie about Silmarlion or the Children of Hurin as there isn't a forth book so why is there suposed to be a forth movie. The Lord of the Rings story was genius and they wont be able to make a sequel to live up to the name.

They ARE making a movie of Tolkien's "The Hobbit." But part three of The Ring Trilogy is the end of the story.

therz no doubt, that lord of the rings triology was one of the best triologies ever made..more over one special aspect is that subsequent part was better than previous one which was proved by "return of the king". other movie sequels, some of those are good but not as good as this triology.
but as the ring itself is now destroyed in the return of the king, on which the movie is based.hence another sequel doesnt sopund that good, even if you think of recreating of the same or creating some another ring.
also saroman is destroyed along with the ring again bring him back or substituting him would be something unacceptable...
so i wish part-3 return of the king should be the last sequel of the series.

I don't know if you have ever read the books, but they cannot make another movie after part 3 because the books end after the third movie.
Now they can make a prequel called "The Hobbit" based on Frodo's uncle's life before the Lord of the Rings books.

Nope, It's a trilogy, nearly perfect and need not no more addition..It is my personal favorite trilogy of all time and the 3 parts are my personal favorite as well, once in a while a watch the trilogy in marathon to relived the epic motion picture..
I think they will be making a prequel, the life of bilbo baggins, i have already the book (the hobbit) and it would be nice to feature it in a film, the way the LORT made..

I read somewhere that Tolkien tried to write a sequel for Lord of the Rings himself, but gave up because it became so dreary and depressive. All the Elves gone, the Dwarves hidden in the mountains, the Hobbits forgotten again etc, and the Men the usual power hungry lot :-) For a film, I suppose a sequel from Middle Earth but not built on an original work would be a bit too much like lot of the other fantasy movies and books that are inspired by Tolkiens work. A bit uninspired probably. I think the Hobbit movie/movies will be quite good if they get made.

I don't think it will make any sense to have a fourth installment. The third part sums it all. The ring is destroyed so unless they create another ring a fourth movie is not possible. And creating another ring will not fit to the movie. They should rather create a new one, that is, unrelated to the original Lord of the Rings series. And I think the book only has 3 parts. But I agree with you that its one of the best if not the best trilogy I have ever watched.

I'm loving coming back for my Lord of the Rings topic so I can read more about it cause I'm really thinking to watch it again, I don't know how many times now.
As much as I love LOTR I don't want a sequel cause there wouldn't be anything left to tell. Even I fell in love to the carachters, I think it could be boring to hear what happened to them then.
Maybe a sequel of Star Wars, that would be great. But LOTR is a master piece, can't touch it :D

Peter Jackson is currently making The Hobbit, which he will be dividing into two movies. J.R.R. Tolkien has written many other books, and his son completed several of his Unfinished Tales (now 2 volumes, I believe) but whether or not any will or can be made into a movie remains to be seen. I think Silmarillion is complete enough to be made into a movie; it echoes the same themes and is based on the same general premise as the LOTR series. Now that the LOTR movies have been so successful and have drawn such a large following, perhaps it would draw enough of a crowd to be profitable. I think it would be interesting to see it done as a movie.

First of all I don't think there will be a 4th sequel. In the book there are only 3 parts. So I don't know what will happen. But, let's say Peter Jackson thinks of a 4th sequel, J.R.R.Tolkien won't be happy 'cause they're spoiling his works.
Well they might make a 4th part called "Hobbit" or "There and Back again by Bilbo Baggins", but to make a brand new... I don't think so.
Again I say if they make a movie, it'll be based on Tolkien's book.
