I saw her online this morning so I Imed her on live messenger and for some reason all I could do is cry! They were here for four days to say goodbye before they headed to the east coast to fly out this evening.....they arrive tomorrow at 5:45 in Germany. For some reason when she lives in the United States I never feel like she is that far away. But now that they have moved to Europe.....it seems like she is so far gone! We are so lucky to have webcams etc so we can still see each other. And of course I'll be going to visit too. Do you have a webcam to visit with someone who lives far away? Does it tear your heart out when your kids move so far away?

I know how you feel. Such a lost feeling. I had a webcam but gave it to one of our kids so she could talk with her sister. I need to buy another one. Our youngest daughter is now living about 2,000 miles from us. She moved to Wyoming right after she was married and it broke my heart. Next they moved to Arizona and now settled in New Mexico. I am sorry it's been a sad day for you. Hopefully time will help you adjust to their move so far away.

I am sure that added to the stress of the long flight. Glad everyone is ok.

Blees your heart Jill, i'm so sorry u are sad this morning. I would be devastated if mine moved that far away. I do have a web cam but lent it to my neighbor when her son was overseas because i never used it. Her daughter moved to kansas so she still can use it w/her. I wish there was something i could say that would make u feel better but know there's not but just remember someone in Tennessee is thinking about u.

Wow! Germany! None of my family lives that far away, but if they did I'm sure I would miss them. That's so cool that you are going to visit. Take me with you! lol

If I could I would take you with me! But when I go so are my sisters! If they hadn't started charging so much for extra baggage I would have sneaked you on board!

Just a sec... Dawn duct tapes kids to chair... No, seriously, mine are too young. I wonder if they will move away, but I guess it's too soon to worry about it. yeah it's great that you have webcam and so on. Just think, back 100 years ago, people would cross the ocean, and if they were lucky they might get a few letters now and then.

Yes,I have a webcam myself so I can see someone far from my location. But I am so glad that I still have no chance to get apart with my parents and close friends. But sometimes distance makes us cherish more our relatives and friends.Especially in that situation I aware of their precious value to us.

Oh Jill, I really feel for you it is such an emotional one, you are pleased for your children that they are doing well and travelling away etc but at the same time there is an ache inside that hurts as you know you are going to miss them so much. I haven't a webcam but whenever my daughter is in a different country we do chat and email so there is still contact. Huggles. Ellie :D

My heart is always torn when they are away from the island. My third son has been in the U.K. for over 11 years and I only see him when he comes for a month at Christmas or if I go to the U.K. But we BlackBerry each other daily and he calls frequently too and his siblings talk to him daily. At one time I had one in the middle East, one in the U.K. and two in the USA. I felt orphaned!! and very lonely. we do have webcam now so my first son can talk to the twins every day when they go back to the Middle East with their mother. He will see them at Christmas. It is awful but it will get a little better as time goes on. I still bawl when they leave. and then you say that you will visit and that is great as well. Many blessings - I do know how you feel but that is not really any comfort to you .

Coming from a differnet perspective since I am not a mother. I can give you the opposite point of view how it feels leaving my own mother, its liek the hardest thing in the world! its like you want to have your cake and eat it too, you really want the freedom and the responsibility but you want your mommy too, don't ever want to be too far from her. Its just this great bond that you don't want to give up.

It's nice to see a different perspective! I know when she said....love you mama that she was missing me as much as I was missing her!

I have a brother that works in Italy and now he arrived home to prepare for his wedding. Very glad to see him in flesh...I see a small difference between virtual visits through webcam and live ones. In general we are fortunate to have this almost free and wonderful way to communicate around the world.
