A view on dogs

Dogs are cute and friendly aren't they? There are lots of breeds in the world. My favourites being, golden retriever, beagle, siberian husky, silky terrier, toy poodle and pomeranian. I've had close contact with at least three toy poodles at my cousin's house. I can say that they are quite shy but are friendly. In fact, all dogs are friendly. Another dog that I had close contact with is the silky terrier at my mum's friend's house. It was friendly and sociable and was responsive too. I played the sound from my handphone, which sounded like a dog's bark, and it immediately responded with full enthusiast!
Dogs can be fun to be with but when it comes to taking care of them, it will be an uphill task. As with all animals, when we first got to know them, they will be a bit distanced from us, which is their nature. But as time goes by, they will come to realise that we are their owners or rather, friends. However, we have to get them food like every month or so, which will be difficult if we are earning a meagre salary. Some owners will be so irresponsible to abandon them, leaving them to survive on their own. That's why, I would like to voice out here, those who don't have the means to take care of animals for the time being or whatsoever, if you can't commit to your pet, don't adopt it.

nicely said judge iron fist. you're right, some people, they adopt dogs then they don't commit to them. some people, when they're dogs get burdensome or when they grow out of the cute puppy stage, they just abandon them. that's why when we give out our new puppies, we make sure that the person who gets them will take real good care of them and will love them unconditionally. we make sure that they treat them as family, not as mere pets. because that's how we treat our doggies. it even break our hearts to give out our dogs' puppies but we have too many already that we cannot take care of them anymore if we keep more. so the least that we could do is look for people who would keep them and take care of them. it's really hard to find 'foster parents' though.

yeah. me too. i know it sounds crazy but i even talk to my dogs. and sometimes it seems like they understand me as well. i also think that animals have emotions as well, just like humans.

Yea, I agree. Pets are the same as humans, just that they can't talk. But they DO have feelings right? I've always maintained the mindset of treating animals as humans. I smile to them and they are friendly to me, which makes my day good!

Food every month or so? No, you should feed your dog every day.
The dog does not really think of you as owner or friend but as pack leader.
Once you understand how dogs think training them is easy, both my dogs will perform all kinds of tricks on command and walk to heal even in heavy traffic

I love dogs myself although I've not had a dog in many years and I sure do miss the comfort that they can give you in your times of need! I think one of my favourite breeds has to be the goldern retriever or labrador! I think they are cute and a whole bundle of fun! I think that this breed is generally used to help and support the blind now.
I think that poodles are kind of cute although I would never have one myself for fear of embarrassment, I know that sounds silly but there you go! It's just the way they have all these pom poms over their small bodies! Some people really give them weird hair dos! I think that there are a lot of people that get a dog mainly to support their personal image and I'm referring to status dogs as they call them and these can be anything from rotweillers to pit bull terriers! Sadly, I think when an owner is like this then the dog is brought up wrong! It's brought up and trained to act like a weapon! Don't get me wrong, these are lovely dogs, in the right hands that is.
I cannot tolerate any kind of animal cruelty and I think that there should be more penalties for those that mistreat animals. I do agree that if someone doesn't have the means financially to support a dog then they shouldn't have one, it's just very cruel and the animal will suffer sadly. Anyway, that's my take on the subject! I would love to have a dog of my own but I just don't have the funds and so I won't be getting a dog anytime soon! Andrew

Yea, golden retrievers are cute when they are a pup. When they grow bigger, they are loyal and friendly. Poodles can sometimes be mistaken as toys LOL.

I have loved dogs all my life. My dogs love me unconditionally. No matter what I look like, or how much money I have or if I am having a bad day they still love me. They don't know we are poor, they think we are rich. I never could understand how anyone could get rid of their sweet, trusting dog. It breaks my heart. Yes, dogs have feelings and they get hurt like our feeling do.
Something else I can't stand is when people get a dog and then put the dog on a chain in their yard or in a cage and never have anything to do with them except to feed them. Why do they get the dog in the first place? How would you like to be chained up or in a cage day and night? It infuriates me and I want so badly to set it loose and find it a good loving home. I think there will be a day of reckoning for all people who have abused their pets.

Thanks chickabee. Dogs are forever loyal to humans. Just that some humans don't see dogs the way they see humans that's all. I agree with you too, that dogs should have their freedom.

i hear you. i wish there was a place to get pups for free like in the States, you could adopt pups... as many as you can handle. i love the retrievers, especially the Labs. they're just adorable! whenever im at my girl's house, 1 of her labs always sleep beside me in the guest room. hmmm... maybe her dad doesn't trust her not to enter my room at night. lol!
i just can't imagine living in a house without a dog, it won't be a home. taking care of them dummies is hard and can get quite expensive but it's worth it. unconditional love is very hard to get. :)

What I hate most of all is that people will adopt dogs and take care of them for a while then something happens, maybe they move to a new house, and then for reason the dog gets booted out. Why do some people act like dogs are disposable? I guess they just don't understand that when you get a dog, it's kind of like a adopting a child. You're making a commitment to take care of for the rest of it's life, not until you get tired of it or you don't want to buy food for it anymore.
