My mama used to fix soup or chili in the summer and I'd say "Mama, why are you fixing that, it is way too hot for that!" Then she'd say, "I was hungry for it. It is just so good." Well, LOL, now I am hungry for chili and soup here in the summer and I am reliving her words so much. I am laughing at myself at how I am sounding like my dear precious mama. Do you eat chili and soups in the summer or only in the winter? I think we're having chili for our Sunday Dinner next week. LOL Wonder what the kids are going to say to me? Thanks for reading and commenting. God bless you!

Hi, mamacathie. I usually will have anything hot during the summer time. Just as long as I am in some cold air that is. I would not eat anything hot while there is no air circulating around me. I love eating cold and hot food during the summer and the winter time.

Yes, i do. I make soup the year round because i love soup. I think it's real good when u have fresh veggies to make it with. I don't make chili as much in the summer but if i had a taste for it i would. Your kids will probably say the same thing to u that u said to your mom, lol. My sons never liked soup much in the summer but since they are grown i do what i want to,lol.

I don't tend to eat too much soup in the summer as it I find it's the perfect food to keep me warmer in the winter especially when i'm stood outside watching my local football team play for an hour and a half. But chilli on the other hand I absolutely love. Infact the hotter the chilli the more it cools you down...or so i've heard in the past.

I most certainly do eat both in the summer. While much of eating is seasonal, due to both availability and weather, cravings for comfort are seasonless. Both soup and chili (sometimes regarded as a soup) are very comforting. Salads and even cold soups are summer foods, but a hearty soup bowl is sometimes necessary even then. It's about the "warmth" and comfort. As with seasons of food, so are the seasons of our lives and the cycles we all go through. And so your recollections of your dear mama and the comfort afforded you by her make it possible for you to give the same comfort and comfort food to those you love. God is so good!

Yeah! I do! I just cant deny myself of my favorite soup when the weather seems to be very hot. I think it really doesnt matter what kind of weather you have as long as you like what you are eating whether it is chili or some kind of soup.

no because we dont have central air in our house so we just do a lot of bbq'ing outside during the summer, however, my father in law LOVES soup and eats it almost every day for lunch, no matter what the temperature.

I had a hankering for chili a few days ago and had all the ingredients except hamburger so I bought some, thinking I'd make up a batch. Well, one thing led to another and I got so busy that by the time I thought about it again, yesterday, I didn't want chili anymore! Today I will package up the burger in amounts needed and put it in the freezer for later use. I do sometimes eat soups and chili in the summer, it tastes good any time of year! I load it up with onions and bell peppers, which I buy in summer and freeze for use in the winter. It's also great if you grate some zucchini into it, giving it some added flavor and vitamins.

I eat soups and chili all year round. But then of course, when I was a kid air conditioners were luxuries and we did not have one. Now they are pretty standard and so even though it's really hot outside it is decent inside!
