Does anyone else really enjoy reading biographies or autobiographies? I read a lot of biographies about musicians who were alive in the 60's/70's but died too young to write an autobiography such as Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Tim & Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Kurt Cobain. I find these books really interesting. The exception to this was Bob Dylan's 'Chronicles' as he is still alive and can tell us first-hand about his life. What are your favourite biographies/autobigraphies?

I love biographies and autobiographies because they can tell us so much not only about the person they were written about, but also about human nature in general. It's really an interesting study into people. My favorite book in this category would be Without You, written by Anthony Rapp. It's such a beautifully written lookin into part of his life, packed with emotion.

Yes I think that is one of the reasons I really like them too. Even if they lead amazing and unbelievable lives, we can identify with many of the human fallacies and emotions that are described in these books. I don't know this book you mentioned but I will check it out, thanks!

Exactly :) So glad you agree. Anthony Rapp, the author, is mostly known for originating the role of Mark in Rent on Broadway, and later playing the role when the musical was changed into a movie. I'm a Broadway dork, who (as you can see by my username) is obsessed with Rent, which is how I knew about him and the book.

I'm so happy to find some one share the same interest in books, I love to read biographies and autobiographies, however, I don't quite believe some of them, I think if you really want to know the man/woman, you have to do more, don't you?
