Just saw a rerun of the episode that had the Sun and Gin flash sideways as well as them on the island when Widmore captured Gin from Locke's camp and when Locke tried to get Sun to go with him and she lost her ability to speak English. Anyway, in the flash sideways they had the Russian as a translator who was the same guy in past episodes on the island who had the eye patch and survived the sonic fence and set off the hand grenade that led to Charlie drowning. So in the flash sideways Gin and the Russian(with no eye patch in the flash sideways) are fighting and Gin ends up shooting him and there is a very quick glance where you can see that one of the two shots got him in the same eye that he had the patch on in the previous island episodes. I hadn't noticed that before and found it to be a really good touch of consistency.

I am re-watching LOST right now and I just finished Season 5, Episode 1. I have seen the episode you mentioned but did not notice that the Russian (Mikhail?) was in a flash sideways! I will definitely look out for that. I love re-watching LOST, I get to see a lot of the connections that I missed the first time I watched it.

Thanks for sharing! The Russian, Mikael, was a great character in both timelines. I really enjoy watching for those little moments that make you remember another episode or happening.
