I favor President Noynoy's decision. So far I haven't seen any projects or program those SK officials do. What happened to their budget.

Yes, especially at times like this our government needs all the money it can save for worthier projects. The young wannabee politicians who wants to get elected in SK and earn money while doing virtually nothing can always focus their effort and idealism to help others like join non-profit NGO organizations helping the poor, or study more and learn how to be productive citizen of the country.

I also I agree too, over the years their projects are only basketball league or posting banners which would not be useful to the youth. They should have a projects that can really help the youth like livelihood projects. The budget is only go to their pockets and not really in the projects.

The budget allocated for SK projects are being used in the barangay projects that is why it is hard to implement projects proposed by the SK since approval of budget request will pass by the head of the barangay. But then the Barangay also has a separate budget allocation for its own project.

oh, yeah i think i do favor the move to abolish this sector in the lower/local government. i mean, with the SK we are just teaching the younger ones to be corrupt at an early stage. We lack to good governance, the training of the young people for them to be an able public servant when they decide to work as one eventually. I'd say it is a good move. get the money the SK people are getting and just give it to the barangay themselves - the barangay captain and his team (i think there are about 10 or more people under him) should be able to work for the whole barangay themselves! they do not need the teenagers. They should just volunteer if they do want to serve.

Yes! Because like here in the place where I live. I really don't see anything that they do. Also they do the "kamag-anak inc." or family members rules the community. I really hate it. I think if officials really intend to serve the people, just do it. It doesn't have to be the SK or younger people, just serve. They are put into that position because believe in them. Well that is unless they cheated.

I do favor Noynoys decision because I bet that the Philippines can run smoothly without the Sangguniang Kabataan system and as Filipinos we should learn how to distribute our budget and thus we should eliminate and cut losses and that is what I think about the SK system, an absolute waste of money. I know that a lot of people will disagree with me and they will say that the system hones future leaders but come on, it just teaches these youngsters to be corrupt. Anyway, wouldn't you rather see the budget for SK go to something more productive.

symbol - teens politics
hello dud, I never really knew the moral function of the SK, all i know there is that people get enhance to learn a bit of politics and public service. but honestly, in times like this i think SK is just a waste of Money being funded by the government. if it's true that youngster who became members are tempted into corruption, then they should be extinguish SK, and let the barangay handle it.
