Did you ever work at something and not make any progress at all but, the you get up one morning and you find you really did progress, And you wondered how you accomplished it given you had about given up on your project. I have been trying lately to do more rating as I have been hurrying to make earnings and not always rating everyone like I should Well to my surprise as I have been 90 percent Red star for months, I see I am now 91 percent.Law of averages p erhaps or did I actually help move up by doing a lot more rating? your take, do you try hard to rate most every one as we are the only raters. Our stars and reputation rest on how we rate each other.I know a lot do not care about ratings but come people it does affect our earnings. And would it not be nice for us who have been stalemated to move up in the standing? We all can help each other by honestly rating all as we go along.Mylot admins claims that when we do rate our co mylotters we also help ourselves. What is your take on the rating system?

HI Hatley ! I used to worry about it but now I don't. I gave a member a best response about a week ago and someone came back at me for doing it so quickly......I really think that is my choice. Not sure about he rating system. I 've never seen a % anywhere or am I half blind in one eye and can't see out of the other one !!?? Still I give positives all the time...never a negative at all. I stay at red 9 and guess I'll have to accept it........ Take care and when I can I'll give you a plus sign :) hugs, quita

hi guita and purple your percent will show when you move your cursor over your star, quita you have an excellent rep. the thing is that by rating each other we all help each other as our reps do figure into our earnings so why not rate it can only help.

If you move your cursor over the star, then you will see a user's reputation out of 100. Right now, your reputation is 94/100.

It's stupid... Every so often, I see somebody getting knocked down because some idiot feels like picking on them, and I take it upon myself to try and help get their rating back up. Not that I can do much when you can only rate a person 11 times per day...

hi dawn I agree its really so dumb andI really think a lot of new ones rate minus too much as they think you do that if you do not like the discussion or they do not agree with your opinion aNd of course they do not read the information saying do not rate minus just because someone does not agree with your ideas. Irish it is odd only 11 even 12 would be a little better.

Hey, Hatley. I used to bowl. It always bugged me that one bad game could drop my average but it took LOTS of good games to bring it back up. I know it's a mathematical thing, but it still bugged me. Apparently, the same "rule" holds here. Let the trolls knock you down, it happens at once. Try to build it back up - it takes forever!! LOL

Hello Hatley, I don't think that one's reputation increases by marking others alone. It's only how others rate you, that makes the difference. With those many posts it's really nice to know you could increase yours by one point. You sure received many positive ratings to get up by one point Hatley! And i am also sure you would keep getting more of them, keep it up! I always rate my friends and everybody out here, hardly takes any time for doing it.

hi voldrex yes having a lot of points slows things way down both ways I am afraid but I am grateful to move up eventhat little. as I have been the same for ages. I do know if you suddenly overnight drop a lot of points you should contact mylot as some one is again trolling. not nice, not nice at all.

Trolls were more prominent more than an year ago, but we don't get to see them much today. They could be hiding and doing their mean play more stealthily. At least we now know, trolls have drastically decreased, but there still might be some.

hi kumar oh do rate as it will help all of us, you included as our reps and ratings are included in computing our earnings so the higher the star the more earnings you may make.see only us users rate our fellow mylotters so our reps in a way are all in our own hands. lol. but it is true.

You rating others did not raise your star, but us knowing that you would really like a blue star may have affected it, if you know what I mean. I had checked you the other day and saw you at 91, so I figure the next one is in site soon.I do not rate, or tag as conscientiously as I used to, but I have certain people I always try to plus up a bit.

hi gardengerty lately I have got b ehind and just plain got lazy only rating those I know so well, but from now on I will do more about rating ev eryone. I feel sad when someone rates minus for no other reason than they did not like the other person having different ideas. we should all remember we are a varied group of people from all over the world and not everyone is going to agree with us all the time, we all have rights to own our own opinions and respect each others opinions. lol

I too try and rate responses and comments. Sometimes, the discussion is also rated positive by me.Now I rated yours positive Hatley. My negative ratings have been very very few, almost negligible compared to the total number I have rated. I too am looking forward to getting my blue star but it has been lost for quite a while.

hi kalav I am the same way and am now trying to get back in the groove of rating eveyone, I seldom rate minus, if its that bad I just hit the exclamation point and report it to mylot and let them decide. the ratings do affect our earnings so the bet ter our rep and ratings the better our earnings may be.

Hatley I have always said I never liked the rating system, it really doesn't mean anything, I'll reply to a blue as well as a yellow,, just ask lamby.. My rating however had been 94/100 ever since I came back, so I don't even think about it..

hi carmelanirel I am not too fond of it either, but the rating system mylot admins tells us does figure in to how they compute our earnings so the better rep you have the more likely you will earn well. I sure do not take the stars into considration when I respond , all I do is find ones that I can relate to or add something too, and I really never even notice the stars at all. But since I got a blue star early then got picked on got a five then mylot admins r aised me back to yellow and from there I moved up to red and am now just a few points from getting blue its the e arnings part that I am interested in as I r eally need them.

I did not know that it affected our earnings but I rate all the time. When I reply, I make it a point to "+" whoever started the discussion. When I reply I wait till it's loaded then take a few seconds to "+" everyone on the page that has made a quality reply whether I agree with them or not.

hi bunnybon7 thething is that we keep forgetting that our reps and stars are indeed used in computing our earnings so the more we r ate positive the better we will all earn. this is in the mylot info someplace. I do try to rate all as much as I can remember to do so.but nobody should ask you to rate them in a discussion as that is apt to be deleted,it is in one of the dont rules. they want that help they shguld use private messaging.

Hi again.Just to say that i do rate peoploe that reply to my discussions, you are one of the people that i do rate,i must say that you do get a plus every time i rate you aswell.I think that there are alot of people that do not rate other people on here, some people do not rate as they do not know that they can.I also give a best response, where as there are others that do not,i am affraid i am abit behind on that aswell as a few responses at the moment. However i have a question for you,i rate on everyone who has responded to my discussions, but i have read on one of your responses on here that there is a limit of 11 plus ratings,is that 11 for one person or can i rate all my responses. In other words can i rate 11 plus ratings in total aday no matter if they are to different people or the same.As i only give out plus ratings as i think that minus is an insult to a person that has been nice enough to respond.Help.Why do people keep changing their names on here, what is the point in that,as confussed.

Jugsjugs, the limit for rating is per person per day, which means in a 24 hour period of time you can only rate each person a limited number of times rather than from one day to the next. For instance, if you rate Hatley the maximum amount of times today, then you can still rate other users (up to the maximum amount of times per user). However, you cannot rate Hatley again until tomorrow after the time that you rated her today (not just after the date changes on myLot time).

I've forgotten this as well. But lately i've been rating everything positive. If i don't agree with the discussion i just don't rate it at all. It's better if every one here becomes a 10 at least we all earn more (according to the rumor ).

"If i don't agree with the discussion i just don't rate it at all" I will rate a discussion or comment/response positively, even if I do not agree with it, as long as it makes valid points and is informative or engages the reader/responder. However, many people will not do that. I would definitely rather your approach of not rating, though, than the ones that rate negatively just because they do not agree, because not only is the latter against the guidelines and how myLot tells us to use the rating system but also negatively rating someone for a difference of opinion does not really foster an environment for good, healthy and respectful debate and expressing opinions, even if they are not the same as the opinions of everyone else. At least not rating someone does not affect that person's reputation.

From time to time, whenever I have discussions, I always give someone the best response award because I know it would help boost your earnings. But I am really not sure about the rating system. On how it works. I should be more familiar now and try to read the guideliness. :D

Hi Hately, I am happy to see your improvement in rating. I am always rating you whenever I go through your topics, replies etc. Sometimes I am not able to participate with your topics but I always make a point to rate you. Not only for you but for all people especially those people with a low rating, I will extend my helps to them. Then also some people are not getting much progress and I don’t know the reason. Congrats and keep it up dear.

I usually give most everyone friend or not a good rating if they did a post that was within guidelines and decent length or I liked the amount of details in their response as well. I have forgotten about looking to see what your % is, I dunno what a 10 sits at but I guess I'll have to snoop when I post this ;0)

hi 3SnuggleBunnies I do too and only minus if its really insulting or a very poor discussion, usually though in that case I just hit the exclamation point report it and let mylot admins decide, I rarely do that though. I think 94 or 95 starts in the blue star but am not sure of that.

I do rate most of the time, especially when I am responding in discussions. There are times when I am having fun or am passionately responding within a discussion, and I will forget to rate in the "heat of the moment" (not angry heat, mind you, but when people are just responding back and forth and debating or interacting at a fast pace). I read a lot on here, even when I do not comment on the responses. If I read a good response or comment, then I will positively rate it, even if I do not know the poster. There are people that I do not particularly care for most of the time, and I have still positively rated them, because they made a good point or were helpful with their response. I believe that is how the rating system is supposed to work, although I do not believe that many people us it this way. They might not negatively rate someone that they do not particularly like, but I do not think that they will positively rate them, either, even if the response would otherwise deserve a positive rating. Of course, that is just my opinion, and I could be wrong.

hi purple I have started bac k to my old practice of rating everyone and I also try to do it as mylot admins says, not picking on someone just because they do not agree with my own ideas. a fter all a dicsussion is to bring all points of view out and if a person is unhappy with that they should not be making discussions. We can disagree with love and frie nship not hate and minusing.I fear some do not understand that you do not minus someone just because they differ in their opinions from yours.

Hi, Hatley! Congratulations to you on the increase in your reputation! I want to rate others but I can't always remember it. Like you said, hurry on posting and earning. That's not good... And for myLot rating system, I just become suspicious about how it works. I had checked several owners of "highest rated discussion", but I didn't find their reputation rose. No ones' rose even 1. And my reputation rose always after I earned best response. Does BS affect reputation more than ratings? That confused me a lot.
