I think there's an anti-virus that can't delete specific virus. That's why I don't rely too much on my Anti-Virus.
Just to keep you safe. Update your software to maximize your protection, Don't go download everything on internet, Be aware of your emails, always check the links, and lastly the most common, SCAN THAT FLASH DISK! or better not use others flashdisk to your own computer.
Hope it helps

Viruses are everywhere online. You can get it by simply visiting a website. So if you plan to avid being infected by those viruses online, then the best way to do that is NOT to connect your computer online. Because it will be impossible to protect 100% a computer from viruses. Not even those best antivirus can stop them. Everyday a new virus is being made and this virus cannot be solve by an old antivirus, that is why antivirus, have a quarantine option for those viruses that they done know for you to send it to them and find solution and after solving it you can update now your PC. But it will be too late since your computer is already infected.
But of course there is always a better solution. You can use DeepFreeze. It allows anything to go and leave from your computer, it even allows you to modify anything. But as soon as you turn off your PC and turn it on again, everything will go back to what it is before. Just be careful in using this.

I am glad thst you have some kind of virus protection but, if you regularly visit suspect (and illegal) sites, then you are already at risk.
If you want to be without risk, then look to your morals - rather than any virus software - to protect you.
Downloading copyright stuff for free is illegal. The people who make it possible know that and will, inevitably, infect your PC because they know that YOU know it's illegal and that you are unlikely to complain.
The solution is NOT to download illegal stuff. If you want something which is copyright, then expect to pay for it. If YOU owned it, I can guarantee that you'd be the FIRST to complain that you were being ripped off.

If you don't want to pay for antivirus software, use a Unix-based operating system, like Linux. It's free and very very secure. But it's not that easy to use, you must be a computer savvy to operate some of the more complicated processes, so if you're not that experienced with computers you better stick to Windows.

I have been using Avast for over a year now and I haven't had any problems. Avast is good at advising you if you get on a site that has a possible virus. I know my oldest son has had problems in the past with his computer because he was downloading a lot of games and stuff. He was the one that recommended Avast to me and now neither one of us has problems.

You have an avast antivirus, so make sure all the processes are running in it, i mean there are different sections. For browsing the web, you have webshield, make sure that process is running. Keep updating your virus database. The antivirus will do it's job fine but you need to take care what and where you download from and what you install. Many installer (.exe) files are viruses on the internet and compressed files (.rar/.zip) contain viruses too. So download files from legit sites. I am sure that you should be ok with that.

I think the only way of killing virus is installing a updated anti-virus software and scanning the PC from time to time, then clear the document that were infected virus.you also must update the software continuously.

I don't use Windows anymore but Linux so I don't have this problem anymore. But in my Windows time.
A very important thing that you must use is a firewall. Windows user must always use a antivirus, but it's only worth to take the virus once it got in, now the real deal is the firewal that can block invasion attempts from hackers and viruses.
The best one I found, although not many people know about it is Comodo antivirus, it comes with the firewall.
I've done the test and I guarantee it's the best antivirus ever. I unistalled Avast and installed Comodo, soon Comodo antivirus found 3 viruses that I don't know why Avast didn't catch. And then unistalled again and tried AVG, it didn't find viruses other day and again Comodo found.
So I don't care about so called top 10 lists, although Comodo isn't top 1, I had the proof it was the best of all cause the only thing that matters is if they find the viruses or don't.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, MalwareBytes, and Spybot Search & Destroy. I would recommend you install some anti-virus software, even if it's not one of these because viruses are everywhere.

The basic protection for a Windows PC is at least having a up to date anti virus software, a spyware removal software such as spyware doctor, as well as a basic firewall to deter unauthorized network access. The best protection of all is to equip yourself with security knowledge. Know what is safe to do and what is not safe to do when you are surfing the net.

There is no perfect anti virus anymore. The best I used was deep freeze but your files will disappear if you save it in C: when you restart. Even anti virus softwares contain viruses. Just use Ubuntu for your application.

I actually use avast too and also iobit security, avast is really good htough to protect your pc from viruses. Hmm maybe you had a virus before you got avast, but you never noticed it. Their is also Advanced System care that helps a lot to get rid of all the viruses and the malware and all that stuff is what my brother uses on the computer to keep us from getting a virus.
SO yeah Advanced SystemCare, avast anti-virus, and IObit Security 360 are all the things that my brother uses pretty much. I really do hate viruses they are never any fun because with all the pop ups it's gets really annoying. I really hope that you get your computer free of those or keep it from getting those because infected pcs are never happy pcs they are sick sad pcs.

first of all, be wary of these sites you get your stuff from. most of these site's files contain worms and viruses that could really be bad for your PC. pffft! all worms and viruses are bad for your PC, sorry. made a mistake there. anyway, some also contain malwares, also bad. update your antivirus everyday and do complete scan very 2 days and if possible, each day. download some free wares that can help with your Pc's security, like firewalls or antispyware etc. etc. make a backup with all your files too. an external drive would be good incase your computer crash and burns. i asked some guys here about freewares for my security and they've recommended this MalwareBytes and Comodo security.
have fun and be careful! :)
by the way, welcome to Mylot! :)

Hi face, you could get a resident shield for you pc and or you go to www.filehippo.com and download a new anti virus for free and install in your system. another thing is , you may have to buy a genuine anti virus online if you still require your system to stay alive.
