do we really need nuclear weapons?????

What "some coutries"you refered to are.Do you mean that the world will be safe if all the nuclear weapons are distroyed.Are the coutries,especially usa who started war in Irap which is regarded as ilegal by a lot of American citizens ,willing to do like what you want. I also hope all nuclear weapons will be destroyed but everyone knows that it is impossible.

for our oridinary people , we do not need this destructive weapon,ha. but for a nation ,for a country ,maybe it is necessary .because it represents one country's science development ,it represents one country's power (show power to other country ,use as a warning to warn other country take cautious attitude when start a war). all the aims is good ,if a country has a nuclear weapon ,it can prevent other country to invade at max limit.. but all the premise is not launch a nuclear weapon ,or it is the whole world's disaster....

of course there's no need for them but there is no going back now.

abj yes and no I sure would feel safer if there were no nuclear weapons'but since there are I think most countries are going to think long and hard as they must know that this would be deadly for all concerned as it is a weapon with huge dispersing qualities so the user may just get killed along with those they attack.I would be all for destroying them is its at all possible.

In this world, not all things can be settled in peace. If it can be done, there won't be wars raging out in the past. In my opinion, those countries that increase their intake of nuclear weapons, are most likely trying to put themselves an advantage over the others. This is so that their military power will be much more powerful that few countries will even contemplate an attack on them. Well, as for destroying the nuclear weapons, I don't think it can be safely done yet. Maybe just stop the new processing will do. Nuclear also harms people, as much as war does.

Well it is hard to destroy a nuclear warhead simply because of the disposal might get out of hand. If there is a safe way to destroy them what would it be? Do you even know what you are talking about?

We do not need nuclear weapons and I would like to think that they could all be destroyed and gone but who is to say if that will ever happen? Destroying them and disposing of them could result with further problems…If someone still had them everyone else would lack adequate defence weapons. It is a bit of a now win...

Hi there, We don't need nuclear weapons but we need nuclear power. With the constantly decreasing fossil fuel sources we could make some good use out of the nuclear energy. Those nuclear weapons, as you know are not disposable so why not harvest the best out of them, for a more noble cause? Nuclear weapon creates an air of tension and also effects the relationships between different countries as well. There are issues when countries try out there nuclear weapons in deserted areas, it brings neighbouring countries to the edge of their seats. It's never comfortable if you one competes with military power, and nuclear power adds a lot to it. Nuclear weapons are only good if we use it out of space for something else, rather than using it against each other.

You can't tell that USA is not producing nuclear weapons anymore. Most of their revenues came from arms and weapons. Have you seen commentaries on september 11 attack. Other countries will sacrifice even their fellow men for the sake of money.
