One has slightly better performance than the other... but theres not alot of difference in the processor, just the price.
My laptop is core 2 duo, which is quite fast and good for me, but everyone wants different features for their computer/laptop.

The Core2Duo is Intel's second generation of processors exclusive for desktops and laptops . Dual Core referrs to to a processor which has two cores in a single Silicon chip . ( Del has a quad core - meaning 4 cores in a single chip ) . The name Core2Duo came because actually it was two Intel Pentium 3 processors built in a single chip and hence Core2Duo . Therefore Core2Duo is the set of latest Dual COre processors.

they are basically the same, but the core 2 duo has increased performance. if i can remember correctly just 20% increase performance i think. its not a lot but at least there is an increase.
thats why i am buying a dual core only laptop with dedicated graphics i get a good laptop with the price halved than the core 2 duo one.
