Internet connection problems on windows 7

Hi there dear mylotters, since a few weeks now I have a new computer with windows 7. Right from the start I'm having connection problems, dropping connections usually (so my connection gets lost and I have to reconnect, and this really disturbs me, cause when I'm not losing my connection, I'm having a slow connection too. The weird part is that I had great connection with my Windows XP (I placed this computer on the EXACT same location, so I didn't really consider the distance (I'm upstairs, using a router which is located underneith my room), anyways. I went too the shop earlier today to get myself a new wireless adapter, which should be 6 X as fast as the previous one, but connection remains really bad, already had a few connection drops. Anyone can help me with this cause I can't find a solution through google. Thanks in advance
