Do you use store brand soap or tide?

My kids play sports so I have to buy tide to wash with. I wish I could buy store brands. I like the smell of some of the lower priced soaps too. What is the brand you use most? I was told people make this as well. I don't have a clue how they do it. I just know my soap cost too much these days. I am going to try to start getting free samples as well.......Have a great day!

Hi. Linda4ualways. We use Xtra. It smells really good. We are using the scent called, Scent sensations. Summer Fiesta. It smells really good! I love this scent so much! I have gotten free samples in the mail of liquid detergents and powdered detergents in the past. It really comes in handy when I get them too.

One ingredient to making washing powder is borax I believe, and another might just be soap shavings from a bar of soap (or almost completely used bar of soap).
My grandmother uses Tide Detergent. We here use an HE brand of detergent, I forget it's name, but we have to use it as that's what our washer and dryer is. Have you looked around for other brands, one that comes to mind is Arm and Hammer, not sure if it's cheaper but I would think it'd do the same job as Tide would. Or presoaking the clothes before washing them might do the trick as well.
Free samples and coupons work too, do you shop at a store where you accrue reward points? Using them ever so often might help to keep the cost low.

Whoa! Tide is way to expensive for me to buy
all the time. I usually buy gain soap. Gain just makes
your clothes look and smell so fresh. And I usually
catch it on sale at walgreens sometimes. Or I'll
just go to BJs wholesale club and buy the big box.
Costco and BJs has some of the best prices (sometimes).
If I'm really low on money I'll go to walmart and see which
good brand is cheap enough to get. Most if the times
it's gain which can handle 82 loads for around $15.

While I do use Tide (liquid) on occasion, I usually use the store (value) brand. I use Valu Time Mountain Fresh detergent. It has a very nice, light fragrance and it gets my laundry clean. Best of all, the cost is significantly lower than the name brands.

I use Tide because my husband's and my son's uniforms are all white and I noticed that if I use the cheaper brands the clothes would turn yellowish. Although I would also want to try other brands if they're really effective in whitening because nowadays we really need to have a tight budget.

I tend to use whichever Tide is cheaper than another bottle of Tide. For example if I see Tide and than Tide with lavender scented fabric softner, I might just go for the tide since it's probably cheaper. There are times that it won't get some stains out though. For some of the heavy duty stuff, like grease stains, I have to usually put something on my clothes like Shout or Spray&Wash and let it sit for about 15 minutes and than wash it in the washer. Either way it's pretty sad how expensive laundry detergent can be, agree with you there.

I use Era on our clothes and put Clorox 2 in the load to brighten the colors. My husband gets alot of grease on his jeans at work and Era is the only brand of soap we have been able to find that takes the grease out! Laundry soap is expensive though evern the store brands aren't cheap anymore.
