portable DVD player... what can it do....

Does anyone know if I get a portable dvd player (the kind that has the screen where you actually watch the movie - about 5 inches in size) does it have a USB connection and can I connect a hard drive to the dvd player via USB port and then connect the player to the TV with RCA/red/yellow/white connections and it play on the tv instead of the little screen? I have a hard drive full of movies. My tv doesn't have USB port, so I was told to get a dvd player that has one. I did, but it doesn't support the capacity of the hard drive, only flash drives. (I wasn't told this when I asked about it or bought it) so now, I have a hard drive full of movies I can't watch. Anyone know about portable dvd players to know if they can do this? Thanks for ANY coments or suggestions
