test rankings

Actually, this is a question that the Indian selectors should ask themselves. Now-a-days, India is performing average in test matches but if you see the other countries they are not performing even average in test matches, therefore, India is number 1 team at this time. Also, I am not sure if India will be in top 3 teams if we play 5 test matches with a good team (e.g. England, South Africa, Australia or Pakistan) in England. Last 5 test matches India have played in this sub-continent and that is why Indian batting is so effective, I am not sure what will happen if we play in England or Australia.

I think India are deserved no. 1 currently. The ICC rankings takes into account the series played over the past few years. So India has won away at England, West Indies and Pakistan during this period. They have drawn series in Sri Lanka and have narrowly lost to South Africa and Australia away. At home they have been very good and only South Africa have managed to salvage anything. So I guess India does deserve to be the world number 1 team. Cheers! Ram

Hello AFA007, India deserves to be a no.1 team based on their bating lineup.The Indian team batting line up is one of the strong bating lineups in the world.Sometimes,batting fails for the Indian team.The only weakness of the Indian team is their bowling.Since after Kumble,there has been no spin bowler equal to him.Harbhajan is struggling to find his form sometimes.Totally,the INDIAN team don't deserve to be a no.1 team.

i think yes india deserve no:1. but we cnat always expect win in all matches that are being played. but indian bowling is not upto world standard. but indian batting lineup is the best in the world of test cricket.

India definitely deserves to be the no. 1 test team though they have made some mistakes but after ll who on earth does not make mistakes!

You see ranking do not guarantee that a team will play at his best, every time, they play a test. India sometimes falters and one wonders how come this team be number one in ranking.
