St-Paul is one of the big general hospital in Hanoi-where I am living. I had stomachache and high fever in past April so I came there for medical examnination. I mentioned that I had had the stomachache for one year since I gave birth to my second son. But they ignored what I said and concluded that I had appendicitis. I got the urgent operation after that. Unfortunately, I kept up having high fever. After carrying out many medical exams, they realized that I had Crohn's disease, not appendicitis. The worse things are the doctors and nurses' behaviour. They did not care me and the other patients except I gave them money. Should I go to that hospital again in the future? This is the hospital that my company bought health insurance for me.

Hi Hoadat83
Sounds like you did have a raw deal. Stomach ache in female is very challenging and unless there had been a thorough examination, pitfalls are bound to occur. If you are not satisfied the way you were treated you have every right to say so and your company should accommodate your health insurance coverage elsewhere. Hope you get over the pain soon.

I am a nurse in my country and based on my experience, it is a routine that doctors do not diagnose the patient urgently. There are lots of tests and laboratory exams before a patient is diagnosed. We only give first aid and treat the symptoms.. We do not do further operation unless we are sure about the disease of the patient. IN your case, I don't think you should go to that hospital again. You should think for yourself especially it is HEALTH matters. I know you didn't want this to happen again.

That would be terrible experience. I also have a friend who was diagnose to have appendicitis only to find out after the operation is just UTI. That hospital is famous and big hospital in our country as well. If I were in your shoes I would not go back to that hospital even if that is the biggest hospital. I would just choose another hospital. I guess there will be another hospital in your country that your company covered for health insurance.
