Normally when we buy the air tickets by our money, we will shop many airlines for the best prices. Sometimes, the low-cost airlines are the good choice bencause of its cheap price. However I have bad experiences when buying low-cost airlines' etickets. It is the reason why I always consider carefully before choosing low-cost airlines for my air trip. One time I changed my plan and canceled my ticket with no refund. One time the flight was delayed 4 hours and I had to buy Vietnam airlines ticket to replace so that I did not miss my important meeting in Hue. One time the flight was delayed until midnight and I arrive In Ho chi Minh city at 3am. Have you ever been in those situations?

Fortunately, I haven't been to those kind of situations. As for the ticket rules, almost or all low cost airlines have a non-refundable ticket. So don't buy one unless you are definitely sure about your trip. But for sudden changes, I guess it couldn't be helped. But then again if a ticket costs only USD10 or USD20 each, I wouldn't mind buying it even if it is non-refundable. Having to miss your flight because of delay, that is quite troublesome. But then again, it is in the conditions of the low cost carriers that they are not responsible for any delays whatsoever. If you have to catch a new flight just to make it in time, you have to buy it yourself. Not like if you buy from a regular airlines, they will be the one who will arrange that for you.

Hi,
For low cost airlines, the air ticket can be cheap if
you were to book it earlier or during their sales period,
however, no cancellation can be done with NO refund at all.
and sometimes ,their flight can be delayed for few hours or even
change the flight timing last mins.
I always travel with Airasia and it happened to me once whereby
they change their flight schedule and I can't make it for my
next flight.I am lucky that there are few trips in a day and
after several attempt of phonecalls to airasia office,I managed to change my
air ticket for the earliest flight with NO Extra cost incurred.
I am fully satisfied with their service.
There is always a risk when you are making ticket booking
with low cost airlines,so what I can say that there is Pros and Cons.

Problem with some low-cost airlines is that you get what you pay for, which is not very much.
I went to Montana once on a low-cost airline, and I didn't really like it. There was no in flight movie, and all I got was peanuts. It was real bummer of a flight.

I like to fly on great airlines but in the past I have been on a few low cost airlines. They tend to have strange flight times like departing really early or arriving very late. The seats are uncomfortable and very close together. They sometimes arrive at very small airports like in Italy when it didn't even have a exchange money office. When I arrived home from Riga in the middle of the night I waited hours for a taxi.
I flew on a great airline from London to Cape Town. The plane was delayed for five hours due to fog. Then it was a 12 hour flight in comfort. At least flights on low cost airlines have a short journey of just a few hours. A delay of many hours or a wait of five hours is never pleasant. Some airports are a joy to visit like Singapore Aiport but there is less at Fiji Airport to see.

So far I've never had such experience. I always buy the promo fares whenever I travel for leisure. I think it is practical. Sometimes even if you will buy those expensive tickets, you might get disappointed. I had an experience wherein I bought a plane ticket from a known airline. Unfortunately, our flight had been delayed for hours. So, I decided to always buy promo tickets since I can always expect that they can't give the best service considering their price.

You could really feel the difference between regular and low cost airlines. The service that they give the passengers is really one thing. With low-cost airlines, I have to be more patient with the flight attendants so as not to ruin my trip. The no-refund is also a risk choosing low-cost. That is why, for important trips like meetings, appointments, special occasions, I find it best to avoid low cost airlines.
Have a nice day!

I have used different low cost airlines several times, but only in Europe, and I never had any problems. Once there was a delay, but it was because of that big terror threat in London a few years ago, so it had nothing to do with the airline. I guess it depends on what airline you use though...

I've heard several stories like yours. Sad. I always fly cheap but never had bad experience except once when I booked connecting flights with the wrong flight schedule, having the second flight earlier than the first! I complained but it was surely my own mistake and the airlines didn't listen to my plea. So I ended up losing 4 tickets (including my 3 children's). I had to be extra careful when buying tickets online.
