I have a temporary job at the moment, I like the job as such, but my boss is not very good. He is very unreliable and he doesn't keep his promises. If we are supposed to meet it happens pretty often that he doesn't show up and he doesn't cancel the meeting. When he makes a mistake or forgets something he pretends that he didn't do anything wrong. He makes it look like it was my fault when he was the one who made a mistake. I understand that he makes mistakes sometimes, everyone does that, but I don't like the way that he tries to avoid responsibility and his immature and unreliable behavior. I have had many different jobs and many different bosses and some of them have definitely been better than others, but my current boss is the worst boss that I have had. I need the money and I know that the job is only temporary, but he really makes me furious sometimes, and sometimes I find it hard to control my temper. What is your boss like? Do you have a good boss or a bad boss? Which things do you like and dislike about your boss?

My boss is the best! She is a very hilarious person but when it comes to work, she is very knowledgeable in processes, has a creative mind that the work through way to solutions. She also appreciates the efforts of the staff and doesnt ridicule or penalize for mistakes done. She is very patient and very workaholic. In fact, i am quite worried for her health. Her blood results are very abnormal and it is obviouse that she has been so stressed with her work. And you know, what is so admirable with her is her ability to still smile and laugh it all off.

I think that you are very lucky to have a boss like that, she sounds like a great person, and it also sounds like she is very good at her job. The ability to smile, laugh and use humour is a great thing, and it is something that I always appreaciate about the people I meet. It makes many things a lot easier. It is a also great that she is patient and appreciates the efforts of the staff

I dont like my boss. I dont like everything about him. A few days ago, our HR manager said that we are regular employees already and of course we are expecting a raise in our salary. I am now angry at our boss cause he lied. He didnt give us a raise. I hate him more and he should not be called a manager, he should be called a care taker.

Thanks for your response. I understand what you mean. It is so frustrating when you can't trust the things that your boss says and when he lies about things. My own boss has lied to me several times as well. I have become very skeptical. When he says something and promises me something, my first thought is: "Yeah, I will believe when I see it" because I have become so used to his unreliable behaviour.

I dont like also my boss she is not a type of boss who can seperate personal and work . She everyone at work they dont like to deal with her.she is a type of person who can double face , lol. like she talk to you and smile at you but at your back she already distroying you .She can deny her words specially if during executive meetings. Even her close friend have a cold war cause she can afford to used her friend as skip goat for her cover up her mistakes.

Our boss, like everyone else in this planet, has a good side, and a bad side. The good side about him: 1. generous, smart, and has a way of motivating you to be better than you are. 2. He is frank. By being blunt at us, we tend to get things done in ways we never imagined we could. We have learned to take his bluntness in good spirit though. 3. He is like a second dad to us all What I cannot tolerate is his lack of word of honor. Like your boss, he has promises he doesn't keep. He is also arrogant, proud and an ego-maniac. He doesn't know how to go down to a certain level for the welfare of everyone. He wants it his way always even if his ideas are not feasible. He also barely listens to explanation and tends to shut you out, and insist on his own speculations. He believes in stories reported to him without hearing out the other side. What's worse, he spends like a one-day millionaire and we have speculations too that he uses the money of the company. He takes us for shopping, yes, but we don't need fancy clothes or delicious food,we need salary.

I would also be worried if I had a boss who spent a lot of money, because it makes you wonder if there will be enough money left for the salaries...The thing about wanting his way and following his own ideas sound familiar, I have had bosses who were like that as well, but like you say everyone has their good sides and their bad sites. It is important to remember that. Sometimes I find it hard to remember the positive sides of my current boss, because I tend to focus on his negative sides like the promises he breaks.

Is your boss new in the company? I thought that this could be the reason why he isn't able to answer your questions. I have sometimes asked questions that my boss and my co-workers weren't able to answer, but in those cases they usually tell me to ask someone else or tell me that they will find the answer. It sounds like your boss doesn't really know the company that well and maybe he is ashamed to admit that...

I hate my previous boss. He's very inconsiderate and very demanding. He doesn't care about his people. All he cares about is the end result, that this and that should be done ASAP or whatever crap. He doesn't even compensate his employees well. He will yell at his subordinates in front of many people (worst is being yelled in front of your own subordinates). He's like a machine - no heart at all. I'd rather give up the good opportunity in the company than work with a machine like him. So I dropped my job. Now I'm working as a personal assistant and I have two bosses. They are both men and relatives. They are the exact same opposite of my previous boss. They are so nice and very friendly. They always show that they care, randomly checking if how I'm feeling, if I'm okay or happy or whatever. Opportunity wise, I don't see any real growth with my current job considering that this is just a small business although I'll learn a lot. But I'd rather stay here and work with real people than work with a crap machine.

I think that I would have made the same decision as you. I would prefer to work at a smaller place and have some friendly bosses instead of working for someone who doesn't care about his employees and yells at his employees in front of a lot of people. Maybe you had to give up some opportunities when you left that company, but I don't think the opportunities are worth it if it means that you will have to work at a place where you are treated badly.

Unfortunately,I also have such a boss. His violent temper. He often vent his feelings upon us,but we are helpless.I have thought about quitting the job,but fear lack of a better time so,after a year after year.Until recently,I made up my mind told him,I want to quit the job.He began strongly to retain me,and promise to increase salaries, but I told him I must go.I can not bear it,and this continues to be mad at me at sooner or later.

Hi jewellyzh, I can see that this is your first post, welcome to MyLot! I understand why you want to quit your job. I know what it is like to have a boss who can't control his temper. 5 years ago I had a boss with a very, very bad temper and I also chose to leave. A good salary isn't everything, it is hard to live with a boss who is always yells at you and who treats you badly.

A boss does not do any wrong. To search his or her mistake is a mistake. Always remain as 'yes boss'. I'm sure you will soon prosper in your job.

you just got me started... I have been working for many years.. and since the day 1 of my working life, I always have both the love and hatred towards my boss. For instance, 1st job - boss is always busy and she will ignore me whenever she comes into the office, but her appraisal and bonus are good... 2nd job - I only have the hatred feeling towards her, coz she is bossy, not wanting to admit her mistake and she don't respect her partner too! 3rd job - the best boss that I ever had.. but I still leave the job coz the office environment sucks 4th job - Very nice boss but the pay is bit low current - splendid boss which don't count company budget.. will only splurge whenever there is money!

My boss is actually very nice and is quite the opposite of your boss - because he discusses the issue with us first before he attempts to either apologise for our mistake or to take our side if we are right. I think dislike is a very strong word though there are times I notice that he sometimes just let people be what they are when they come to our department to ask for something. I hope there will be a time when he can stand ground for us and you know tell this people that there is a process to follow.

at the moment, i do not have a boss. like your story, i 've had bosses before like your boss now. the things that i do not want about bosses are this. boss that tends to mind everything even your personal life, perfume, etc.. etc.. boss that always want to work after time-dismiss that he needs my company.. well, just for the record, i've been accompanying this old boss 15 nights until 10 or 11 pm in the office without getting the exact O.T. pay. above all, i like friendly bosses..

The worst boss I ever had was when I was working for a temporary agency. "I worked like a horse", the temporary company said. One boss took my hard work and dedication as desperation. He thought he could abuse me. I actually stood it for three years. One day he told my temp co I was undependable and didn't want me back! I knew he wanted me to beg for my job. I quit. I found out later he had to do my job and his for 4 years! Hahahahaha.

My boss is a pretty good guy. He is very funny and tries very hard to be fair with all of the people that he supervises. Sometimes I do think he is preoccupied and does not always manage his team when he needs to but for the most part I enjoy him as a boss. Where I work we are pretty lucky with all of our managers, decent, hard working people. They do not think they are better than anyone else.

I remember my first boss, he was a totaly B.A. and I and every other person in the store looked up to him in a way people should look up to their boss'. He was a super friendly guy, once everything that needed to be done was done he would sit and chat with us about life. But he also had the ability to scare the heck out of you if he ever walked around the corner and caught us not doing our job. He had that 'look'. And he only shut the office door when it was a pretty serious matter. That scared everyone.

I'm very lucky to have kind, cool and great bosses, one of the reasons why I don't want to leave the group. They treat us like a family so they are open or very supportive with our progress and development. They teach us so many things not only about work related stuffs but also about life. For now, I can't think of anything I dislike about them.. ^.^
