I joined this site yesterday and today i started posting and replying discussions. Does that number in parentheses after our username represent the number of posts we have? Why is it that when I posted a new discussion, the number didn't go up? I simply don't understand what's going on. Or maybe mylot is just a little delayed?

That number is not a post count.
It is your user rating and is explained here:
http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx
It increases when you:
- start a new discussion but only after it receives 2 responses (or 1 response + 1 comment)
- whne you respond for the first time on a discussion started by others
- when you comment on a response for the first time on a discussion started by others.
It decreases when you lose posts.
ALL of your activity counts towards earnings even though it does not all cause the number to increase.

Yes, those are the discussions you posted and the also the discussions you commented. And yes, sometimes mylot are just delayed updating the posts, but sometimes, they don't count comments that are too short! I hope that is helpful! Happy mylotting!
