like migraine, if you're having this, do you immediately take some pill or wait for it to go away? taking medicines for some people are just normal... i mean, headaches? toothaches? menstrual cramps? pill. are pain relievers bad for us in the long run? i've heard that some can cause damage to your organs like liver, kidneys, heart etc. etc. what other ways can we kill pain using the natural way? if there's a natural way.
please share. :)

Mind over matter. Maybe we can psyche ourselves to think that pain will go away. I guess if we can control our pain receptors and make it numb maybe we can manage pain without pills. I don't usually use pain killers but i do when it is convenient like when I have a tooth taken out and then I have a test later then I would be using pain killers.

@jamuls: i definitely agree. I would mind if its a wound from my skin.
@gorillafootprints: I don't have any pain tolerance at all. If I have a pain i usually resort to pain relievers. But then I just seldom experience pains.

Depends on the kind of pain.. mostly for headaches, i would just be using my white flower ointment and sniff on it. it helps soothes my headache.. menthols relaxes me! :D If it is tummy ache, i would be taking some medicines and would usually have to endure the pain... especially for my back. I rarely take medicines and i do not like meds very much so i just iterally am in pain and hoping it would go away.

I would imagine that taking a lot of pain killers is probably not good for you. But when I am in a lot of pain I don't think about that, I just want the pain to go away.
I used to get a lot of headaches and I couldn't figure out why...neither could my doctors...it was just one of those things is what I was always told. So I had bad headaches at least 5 days a week and I would take advil and my headache would usually go away after awhile. This went on for me all my life, for at least 30 years that I can remember.
Then I moved and started a different and new job and was cleaning houses for a living. It was/is a very hard job and with sweating so much I had to drink lots of water, I actually wanted the water, as in I hated water and never drank it very often, for all my life.
I realize after about a month that I never had a headache all month. Then the next month would go by and the same thing, no headaches. Wow, I'm loving this. So I mention this to my hubby and he says to me, you are drinking lots of water, that's why. Huh....
I had a moment.....I was drinking water and I don't have any headaches anymore, sure, I was dehydrated all my life and that is why I had headaches. It wasn't just the advil I was taking that worked to take away my headaches, it was the water I drank to take the pills.
So for the last 5 years I don't get headaches at all anymore. I make sure to drink lots of water every single day. Not only are my headaches gone but also I don't get the cramping in my feet and legs anymore that I experienced all my life, and my skin is so much better and I've lost almost 50 pounds to boot.

It depends on the pain and what is causing it. For headaches, I have found out that the best way is to take a nap. It works for me better than anaspirins or any other pain killer. I did not have many times menstrual cramps when I was young, but the best way to deal with it was placing a hot water bottle on my belly.
Nevertheless, there are some pains that need meds. But I think it´s fair to discuss your views with the doctor each time and not accept everything he says.
Doctors medicate according to stadistics and you must never forget you are an unique human being who knows a lot about your own body.

yeah it's not good to take pills to relieve the pain, and you're right pain reliever can damage our internal oragans,, like what happened to my father, He always taking pain reliever every time he feels pain.. He pass away already because of liver cancer.. You should take some food supplements to enhance our immune system. if we're healthy then no sickness no pain..

If I had to kill pain using the natural way, I would lie in my bed and start crying myself to sleep at night. I would wake up in the morning and find over-the-counter medications to calm my pain. I would try to do chores around my home to ignore my pain, which can be difficult, whenever it hits me.

I hate feeling pained. There were times I had those mysterious headache (I just had two of those attacks. One during year 1996 and the next one was this year.) It was so painful that I wanted to break my head. I was trembling because of so much pain. I'm not the type who'd use pain killers as an immediate remedy but during those attacks I did not hesitate using them. Tootaches, stomach aches, for me those are the pains I dreaded to feel. But, for tootaches and stomachaches, my mom has a recipe of ginger and oil to ease the pain and it works well.:)

for menstrual cramps, i use the hot water bottle. another thing i resort to frequently is slathering the affected area with liniment or ointment. it truly isn't adviseable to use synthetic pain relievers because they weaken the liver and cause our veins to become brittle.

It is next to impossible for me to get in pain. So, even if I am right in this condition, I tend to do something else instead of taking pills at once.
For example, I will try to relax myself by doing proper exercises, stop my work at hand and have a rest, or just wait a short time for getting rid of the pain in a natural way.
Of course, if I find it really difficult to recover easily, then I will look for help from my doctor. I have no habit of taking pills.

Hi jamuls, as long as i can endure the pain except for tootache this one is really hard to ignore, i would rather wont take any pain relievers. But it depends on the situations, if at work and i have a headache i will since i can concentrate on what i am doing if there are these aches that i cam feeling. So as long as i can endure and as long as im not working i wont take any pain reliever.

Pain is just a symptom of something else. By taking pain killers, we only mask the symptom but we never cure what's causing it in the first place.
I am used to being such a pill-popper. My threshold for pain is very low. I try to kick this habit out but sometimes they happen when I needed to be somewhere, like an important affair or something and I hate ruining it because of what I am feeling so I usually take a pill.

Yes, pain relievers are bad, in the long run. Like for example, long term intake of Paracetamol can give you Liver Cirrhosis. Take only these medicines, paracetamol, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, only from time to time. Don't take them regularly. Protect your liver.

There are some natural ways to relieve the pain. There are also herbs that you can take aside from the pills available.

I do something to take my mind off it, playing video games with my friend, my sister or my brother
