Hi everyone, I first have to say that I can't actually copy and paste this so I am having to type it all out again. I hope you music lovers and people who maybe want to start playing the guitar enjoy my introduction to the guitar. Please tell me what you think and definitely tell me if it was useful for you or your friends! Take care, Dan Introduction to Guitar, Part 1 by Dan Alldred This is an introduction to guitar which will teach you about the basic requirements and skills needed for you to be able to take steps forward and learn how to play the guitar. ..........Big Decision........... I'm Dan Alldred (you guitar teacher) and I would like to tell you about the certain possibilities that are achievable considering you stay focused, have determination and stick to the plan of action. There are 3 main scenarios: Scenario 1 - So, you have your guitar, and you are willing and determined enough to put 2 hours of practice time a day into your schedule. Within 1 month you would have 2-4 scales memorized and up to a speed of 100bpm and a couple of songs with 2-3 chord changes within your repertoire and feel confident doing so. Scenario 2 - Ok, you have your guitar, and you are willing to put 1 hour of practice time a day into your schedule. Within 1 month you would probably have 2-3 scales memorized but only just play them at 60bpm and have 2 chords memorized but interchanging between them to make a song is not possible but you feel fairly confident with the scales and know that you are going to put the effort in next month to improve your chord changing. Scenario 3 - So, you have your guitar, and you are picking it up for 5mins here and there, not really sticking to a routine and not learning the scales whilst playing them, missing notes and just putting it back down when you are bored. Within 1 month you will barely be able to hold the guitar the right way, barely be able to strum significantly without dropping your plectrum and not have a chance at playing a scale. Your confidence will be none existent and you will wonder why you even wanted to start trying to learn how to play the guitar in the first place. The first and most important decision you need to make is which scenario you want to choose for yourself. Part 2 coming soon! Dan

Hi, Lol, I think those scenarios will still work for bass players.... The bass is built around playing scales and 3 note chords/arpeggios. Bass players would benefit from reading those scenarios as much as lead/rhythm guitarist. Dan

Yeah, I was just messing with you. Your post is very good for new guitar players and people thinking about playing guitar. I've been playing bass for over 30 years, and before that I played guitar.......so I'm good. Maybe I'll check it out when you get to lesson lesson 54. Seriously though, good job helping others starting out.
