I'm loosing weight in an awesome way!

I found something to help me loose weight that works like a miracle! I've always been overweight. I'm big. I started this year at around 270, and I'm 6'0". I told myself, that if I couldn't get it down to, at most, 250 by October, I would start taking pills to do it. I did that back out of high school when I was 340, and lost 80 pounds on it, so I know it works.... but those pills are horrible... really make you feel awful, but they work. Through the whole year, I kept on going up and down. Usually between 260-270. I couldn't understand why. I was exercising, I was watching exactly what I ate so that I didn't go over, I was never having soda pop or potato chips or anything like that, and almost all my food was "lite" or "diet" or something like that, but it just wouldn't go away. Then, 3 weeks ago, I found something that has been working AMAZING! I cut out all MSG from my diet. MSG is in more things then you might realize. Almost all canned foods, or sauces, fruit juices, or anything that has some wild flavor to it, has MSG. It goes by names nowadays like, "Yeast Extract", or "Hydrolyzed Oil", or the worst, is "Natural Flavor". Seriously, go and look through your foods right now, and look for those ingredients on them, and I bet you'll find them, even moreso if it has some flavor that they could not make, naturally (like Smoked Chicken or Stawberry and Kiwi), or if it's diet or lite or anything along those lines. Do you know how they make mice and rats fatter for testing? They inject them with MSG. When they give mice MSG on a regular basis, 90% of them get overweight, which is an extremely rare occurrence with mice... they mostly stay thin, but MSG makes them want more food, and keep the food in them rather then burning it off. I've stayed away from MSG, and I have been eating things like Pizza, the real alternatives to the lite foods I used to get, like Mayo and cream cheese... I've been having lots of rice, pasta, cheese, steak, chicken... just as long as I look over the ingredients, and don't see anything that can mean MSG. Just put something down if I have no idea what on earth they're putting in it. I've been doing this for 3 weeks, and I've already lost 13 pounds. It's been so easy for me to loose weight now, and I've been eating all the foods I want to eat, but I haven't been as hungry, or going wild with food, and my weight as just been dropping.. about a pound every 2-3 days. I'm telling you, this is working absolutely perfect for me, and if you want to loose weight that you just can't seem to get off, I recomend you try it too.

This is very interesting and does make sense really. Now where would this be listed on a package. I just read through the nutritional information on the back of a bag of Fritos and saw nothing about MSG. I'll have to look further on this. Thanks for the info. I drink a lot of the Chrystal lite in my water which from the sounds of what you describe, must be loaded with MSG. Anyway, Congratulations on your weight loss! I'm sure it feels great to finally have something working without resorting to pills which are short-term loss and can't be good for your body.

Ok I browsed around the site and it is very very interesting and informative. I am bookmarking it. I need to read up more on this. It sounds like almost everything we eat contains MSG! I could easily cut out the Crystal Lite and stick to straight water because I love water too. It's all the other stuff that I'm not so sure about. My budget is so very tight right now. I'll have to read thru the recipes. I don't eat a lot of processed foods or at least I don't think that I do but this really makes me think twice.

MSG is a really funny one, because since it got so much bad publicity, they've been changing the name when they can on the ingredients of food. A great place to see the whole list is www.msgmyth.com, and go under the heading to the side that says, "Hidden Names for MSG". Another thing that has the same properties of MSG, is aspartame and dextrose. These are the kinds of sweeteners you find in Chrystal Lite, and the reason they taste good, and are addictive, is because they use MSG along with it. I don't know about Fritos, personally, but there are a lot of good items that don't contain MSG. If it's something thats actually made naturally, chances are, it won't have MSG. One that surprised me, is normal potato chips. They just use potatoes, oil and salt, no MSG. Bad thing is, just because something is called "organic" or "natural", doesn't mean it has no MSG. Read the label, and look for anything thats posted on that site I gave you. Follow that simple rule, and I bet you will loose more fat off your body.

Thats one of the really wild things... now that I haven't been having MSG for 3 weeks, foods with MSG are a lot grosser to me, while foods that don't contain it are far more delicious. Instead of having sundried-tomato flavored rice cakes, I have normal rice cakes, and I add on whole mayo and a little bit of spice. Tastes far better, has more fat, but I loose weight eating it!

I've been trying to lose weight as well since I gained so much weight during my second pregnancy. Thanks for this info.I will try this as well. I do put some MSG whenever I cook meals because it really makes the meal much tastier. I guess the more I dislike food the better for me so that I'll will not over eat :), so better not cook appetizing foods!

It's not that MSG is a source of fat, but it's called an excitotoxin, and what that does, is makes your body retain more fat, rather then getting rid of it, or burning it off. So you could have the same food, one with MSG, and one without, and you'll gain more weight if you have the one with MSG!
