My Birthdate Doesn't Match My Social Security Number! How is that possible?

I bought a laptop yesterday at Best Buy. Since I didn't have to pay interest for 18 months, I signed up for the Bext Buy credit card. I was approved, but when I went to check out, it declined the card. Anyway, the salesperson called the credit card company and they said my SSN didn't match my birthdate. I thought maybe they had put in the system wrong, but I don't see how because it wouldn't have matched mu information, and I wouldn't have been accepted for the card. I just checked my credit report, and everything seems ok, but I don't know why they said my birthdate and SSN didn't match. Have any of you had this problem? What should I do?

Hello it is certainly some kind of human error at some end, may be at the time of making an application, better to go to the office and findout where the shoe pinches!! Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers. Professor

Did you call the higher ups at Best Buy? I am not sure what you should do, but I would be finding out where it is messed up.

sounds like the error was made at time of application(on their end),and they didn't check it before approval.some of them are just in such a hurry to sign up new accounts they don't check. i would call their head office and ask to speak to whoever's in charge. if that doesn't solve it,cancel it,it's worthless.

BD the social security people are human and they do make errors.I would go to your local social security office and have them go through all the records and maybe find the human error someone has made. It is probably a glitch and if you get a worker who will listen to you it should be able to be straightened out soon.So also see the people in the credit card company too as someone has just made an error.
