I have different opinion toward prayer. I have seen people prayer for gratitude. They will thanks for the God to give them meal and everything they got. I also have seen people prayer for help. And a lot of people indeed simply prayer for help, more like begging and unwilling to find a solution to solve the problem. That's totally wrong I think. There is no magic around us, and even though people believe the existence of God. The only message they can get through prayer is to get encouraged to find a best solution to their situation. Don't you agree?

Prayer is our line of communication with God. Through prayer we keep in touch with our spirituality and with our God.
You are right, a lot of people misuse prayer just to simply ask. But we should never judge them instead we should pray for them that they would see enlightenment in their prayers. There is nothing wrong if we beg for help from God through prayers. It just shows that we are humans and we need God's help to go through our problems in life.

Prayer itself does not do anything at all. They can pray all they want and nothing will happen unless they or someone else do something about it.

There's nothing wrong for asking help to God. We can ask Him for help everytime and I think He always answer our prayers but not in a direct way. Also I don't think God will help us if we cannot even help our self. First we must do what we can and then let God handle the rest. Just continue to have faith.

Praying is a sign that we believe in the existence of God. Faith however is what makes us strong and confidently believe that we can do things the right way because we are being guided by the powerful existence of God. Most people do pray to seek help from God but it doesn't necessarily mean that they are not looking for solutions to their problems themselves. In fact, nothing in this world is without solution. Now, prayer comes in to serve as our guide in finding the right solution over our problems. It make us feel confident and well guided. Praying is also a way to keep in touch with God. To thank Him, to seek His help, to adore Him, or to simply communicate with Him. It's just that this world is now turning upside down that many people get confused and helpless- so in order to avoid taking the wrong track, we seek His guidance, and most of the times our prayers are answered and we get blessed and guided.

Pray for those who are sincere.Because they have the desire, their desire to won their own blessings. Is not that a positive attitude towards life it?Prayer and daydreaming are two separate matters. One is the communication of God,one and their own entertainment.Do not pray for those who often bizsed. They are all children of God.God bless them.

Prayers are our way of communicating with God. Natural tendencies would always be that we call out to people, our friends, and our families when we need help, right? I would think that most of us, though we share our happiness, we tend to be in touch more with our friends when we think we need them to be at our side because we are in trouble... I guess i am just relating this to our relationship with God - though for us, prayers and asking for help is our way of talking to him, you do not have to discount the fact though that there are also more people that talks to God on a daily basis.

I think you're just thinking too materialistically (i dunno if there's such a word). There are other forces working around us besides the wind and the gravity. You should believe in those forces for them to believe in you. We pray to connect with God. If you trace prayer back to its origin, you'll find that it's real purpose is to ask. We just have to be grateful after asking just like when we're asking someone for a favor.

People see things differently. There are people who don't know what to do to get out of a situation so they pray when their back is against the wall. There are others who simply will not do anything but rely only on faith in God to get them through. Then there are others as you said who pray for everything.
I thank God often for my blessings. My house that I thought I would never be able to have because of my financial state, my cats who are always around to make me laugh and show affection, my roommates who help me financially and for the help they give me around the house. I am tremendously thankful that the house came with a working dishwasher. For my friends and loved ones I give thanks. I ask for stuff too, and also ask the Lord to show me how to get what I need or want. Sometimes He simply blesses us; other times we must work and save to get our needs met.
To be in the state of grace to thank God for everything is indeed the highest form of prayer; to show gratitude to God for our blessings is the best we can do for all He has given us. Gratitude causes some to go the extra mile to help bless someone else in need. We should always seek out how to be a blessing to others according to our circumstance. Some can only offer prayer and words of mercy and encouragement. Others can do more physical and financial things.

Have you guys seen the movie "Evan Almighty"? there was one scene where Evan's wife was at a diner, Morgan Freeman (plays God) was a waiter and offered wisdom regarding prayer. God says something like, "...people pray for something, but god gives them opportunities..."
-for example, someone prays to god to give him strength or courage, god doesn't give them strength or courage, god gives them the opportunity to BE strong and courageous...

I don't think prayer is just for encouragement. It helps people to know the source of life, connect with the higher power even for a few moments. Prayer does help boost our confidence.

God is nothing if you don't believe his existence. What's more, with the development of technologies, more and more people have no interest in God.
There are no people who have certain proofs to prove the existence of the God. In most cases, even if you believe in God, you can't gain any physical profits. Yes, it may have some effetcs from your mental standpoint. That is to say, with the help of the God, you may have more courage to insisting on something instead of giving it up. That's all.
