This is a new maxim to me. My parents nor my grandparents never said such saying. I suppose though that you are an alien, crazy. Your parents and your grandparents must be out of this world! JOKE!

Hey, who are you? What did you do with my friend crazy? JOKE! (again) Sorry, I couldn't resist that. My mind tends to get swayed with your avatar always. Seriously though, my folks never said that to me. Probably because I never asked for pocket money. They always hand me the week's allowance on Sunday afternoons. Banks have branches so they could spread.

these are the branches from where the work for the main branch, instead you look for each deposite you had to walk to the main branch that will be travelsome journey and you would just think of keeping money to your self rather depositing them in bank

Leaf it out mate, you're barking mad. You need to get to the root of the problem not be boled over by it. Then you'll twig the answer all the best urban

Holy Moly I remember hearing this so many times as a kid from family and friends, I even recall using the phrase myself. What I got out of the phrase usually depicted that money was something hard earned not something you can plant a seed and watch it just grow with loving and tender care. Using it basically meant that I had to work really hard to obtain it so I just could not give it away because I knew it would not come quite easily in the coming days and or months. It was a great metaphor to use when children did not understand the value of how hard it was to obtain the money.
