Chat rooms

When people write in chat rooms, message boards and use Internet Messengers, they use a different way of writing. Do you think they are easiest or they are borng for you? I think that emoticons are ok, but abbreviations are borring for me and it's hard to use them.

The formal way of writing is the easiest for me compared to those that have a lot of abbreviations and emoticons.
