What's the longest you'd wait for a restaurant table?

It happened 3 weeks ago when me and husband went to this restaurant near our place. I was so mad cause we waited for 30 minutes for the waiters to serve us our food. I told my husband we are not going back there anymore. They also have the worst service and they are never going to have a tip. How about you? What was your experience?

sorry to hear that, some restaurant can really be negligent when it comes to their customers. however, I think as far as I remember any restaurant I'd go to, and I don't go to many, I'd have my ordered food served in about ten minutes, so I think if I'd have to wait longer, 20 minutes tops. They don't deserve us to wait longer since it's their duty to please us and take care of the customers and serve the food in a short amount of time.

Exactly! They should have never kept their costumers waiting. The situation when we were there in the restaurant was not really an excuse for not serving us our food on the right time cause there were very few costumers at that time.

for sure. you did it right to not give them the tip, cause treating you like that, they don't deserve it.

Hiya p3ks, Not long back we were so hungry and we stopped at what seemed like a good Restaurant and we asked if there was Dinner being served. You have to ask here sometimes just in case. Well we sat there and time was going by and all the others were getting served before us and they had come in after. This was not a Restaurant where you had to book a Table by the way. Right from the minute we went in there the Waiter and Barman were staring and not giving very welcome looks. I just passed the attitude over and because I was really hungry. Not only did we have to wait ages the Food had been reheated and yet it was practically stone cold. I tried to hide my disgust as the Food was quite disgusting even the Bread tasted two Days old. We chose the wrong place obviously as they were only used to serving their regular clients who were willing to put up with anything they put on the Table. If they don´t want to serve you then they should say so and not try to lead you on. The Food was really disgusting and if I had been in another mood I would have let him know it too but I can tell they are pretty hard faced and would not care much what you said to them either. We did not tip them either for their terrible attitude apart from the horrible food. At least we know for the next time where not to go (grin).

Hiya p3ks, Well there are enough local People going there to keep them busy so they will not miss us and I won´t miss them either. They have been going for a long while which often happens there are one or two more places like that but we already know them so we have never gone back either.

You are right about that. At least we already know that we are never going back to places like that and that we should not tell our friends about that place. Anyway, I think time will come that if they are going to continue their services that way, then they are not going to be successful.

So you mean if we are already seated at the table and have already ordered. In that case I would probably wait as long as it took, but I would start to get a little anxious around the 20 minute mark unless I have ordered soemthing that takes extra time in which case the server should have told me that when I ordered it. By a half hour I would start asking what is going on, after that I would probably start to get angry. Food that takes a long time is not always the fault of the server though, sometimes it is the cooks issue. I would never not tip a server unless they were rude or nasty. As long as they let us know what is going on and why the food is taking so long and apologize then I don't blame the server. If they don't keep us informed and don't apologize for the wait then they will get a 10% tip rather than the 20% we normally tip. My husband would probably also speak to the manager.

There are certain kind of food that needs extra time and I totally understand that. The food that my husband and I ordered when we went to that restaurant if their specialty and they are suppose to have those food ready for costumers. And what made me madder about what we experienced at that time was that we waited for 30 minutes and the food is not even hot.

I am really picky about this, having worked behind the scenes in the Restaurant industry for many years, if it seems to me like there is to be a big wait for food, I go elsewhere. When a restaurant is busy enough to create those kinds of waits, I know the Cooks are stressed, and the servers are stressed, and the chances of mistakes, mishaps, and "rushed" food increases dramatically, though, not all the time, and not every where you go, and it could be different of Friday, then on Monday, even if the wait is the same, the variables are astounding. So, in short, I don't wait for tables, I leave. Cheers.

Going somewhere else would be a good option. I also told myself after that experience that I am never going to wait for tables anymore. It was just frustrating at that time when my husband and I went there, cause there were a few costumers but their services were still very weak.

The longest time I waited for the food to serve was like only 10-15 minutes. The server told us that the food will be served 20 minutes but it's faster than what they said. Especially for the steak and pizza.

I think its better they say that than say something like that serving the food within a few minutes but only to find out, you would get it and wait for it much longer than what was promised.

My ex-boyfriend and I went to Chef Donatello's in SM North Edsa. We know that it's normal to wait a few moments for the food. There were no other customers then, so we thought their service would be a bit fast. When we were already waiting for 20 minutes, we inquired about our order. My boyfriend was outraged by the waiter's response: "umabot na po ba sa 30 minutes paghihintay nyo?" (have you already waited for 30 minutes?) as if trying to tell us that we have to wait for 30 minutes and we cannot complain yet. We asked him to call his manager, who admonished him right in front of us.

Some service crew could be so stupid. I dont really care if they have been working for hours and hours. I had an experience of being a food server before and I worked there for 8 hours straight and I was never rude to the costumers. Anyway, food servers like that need a lot of training.

I forgot what restaurant but I waited for like 30-45 minutes. And me any friends are really hungry so always follow up to the waiter. It was nice I'm with my friends. We kill such time by laughing a lot at things. We never went back to the restaurant after.

Yes! WE should never go back to restaurants like that. They are slowly loosing their costumers and I would never recommend that restaurant to my friends. Its not like they are the only restaurants here in our place anyway, there something much better than them.

Hi, well its sad to see how people have to wait so long at a restaurant. personally i think it shows that the place is unorganized, and don't take the customers seriously. I work at restaurant/cafe myself, and we pride ourselves of delivering the food to our customers without the wait. maybe 5-10 minutes, and we serve. it really frustrates me to wait a long time for my food.

I also had the same experience. I was also a food server before when I helped my friend in his business and he had a small fast food and a lot of students go there. We always make sure that the food is ready so that costumers wont have to wait. Anyway, I guess that restaurant is gonna go down in the future.

More than an hour! It was the opening day of Mandarin Deli in Gateway and my friend and I wanted to watch a movie. We went to Mandarin to eat dinner before watching a movie. The staff was so unprepared that it even took us more than thirty minutes just asking for our bill. I got tired of waiting and just marched over the counter to pay. I was not even grateful when they waived payment. I just rolled my eyes going out.

Oh my gosh! What kind of service do they have there? Maybe they forgot about your order. If I have to wait for more than an hour, I would definitely not go there anymore and I would have walked out if they made me wait for an hour. Even if they say that the food is already coming.

I dont remember but it's usually okay with me to wait as long as the ambiance is great and that I am comfortable with the place. But if I am really hungry or the people I am with are desperately hungry, then that's when I think about going somewhere else. :D

My husband and I were really hungry and you know when you are hungry and you wont be able to eat at the right time, you lose your appetite and wont be able to eat as much as you want anymore. Anyway, their services really sucked.

I actually sometimes do not notice that we wait a long time for the waiters to serve us most especially if we (my husband and I) are engrossed in a topic or something like that. However, there are times when I am soooo hungry. What I usually do is order as soon as we are seated and look at the other customers who are being asked of their menu. In case I do see that they are being served first than us that's the time I ask (weird huh). In case that does happen, I do not give any tip. I mean tips are given when you are satisfied with the service right?

I always complain especially if others get to have their order first rather than us who was there first and made the order before those who came in a little later. I just cant tolerate unfairness you see.

whooaaa!!! I won't mention the name of the restaurant but I had the worst experience dining there.., I waited for my an hour for my order to arrive.., imagine!? and I was really patient at first because a lot of people had been dining at that rush hour.., I kept on following up my order and they keep on saying that it is coming.., and I was really hungry.., I didn't want to lost my temper at them because I wanted to understand that It wasn't easy to work in such an environment.., but the customer satisfaction level was really going down..lower than zero.., and I will definitely not dine again on that fast food chain..=(

That's what they always say, its already coming. They have a promise to serve your order at least 20 minutes after you made your order and I think we can still make an allowance for that 20 minutes but more than 30 minutes is already too much. When I will be in the same situation again, I would have to cancel it even if I would see the food already.

The longest about 40 more minutes. That is really mad at me,me and a friend went to a restaurant to eat at noon, probably bacause of time reasons, the shop's business is busy,we count the food has been sitting chatting after 15 minutes when I am a bit anxious, and had wanted to reminder about the waiter, when the thought of the time now, restaurants should be busy also,so we choose to continue and so on.But 40 minutes later,we still do not serve food.I am eager to ask the waiter how it was.Dad was out of the store apologized to us, and also add a dish for us to express regret. This thing is over.

I think that if a restaurant says that the food is going to be served after 15 minutes or so, the food should be served after that or within those number of minutes. A restaurant who doesnt know how to follow their own rules is no good at all.

HELOW! 30min is really too long. May be that restaurant had many customer and few waiters to entertaine them. Hopefully they have a suggestion or comment box so they will know the feedback of their customers. Well i dont have yet that kind of experience to wait that long. At most if i recall its arouind 15min. not bad!^^

I would totally understand if the situation is like that. But at that time when my husband and I went there, there were only 4 tables that needed attending. There was no excuse at all cause the waiting were just chatting and laughing as if we were not there. They also dont have the initiative.

it's irritating to wait for a table in a restaurant. If i have to wait any longer than 45 minutes, i will be out the door. Waiting in line to be seated for a meal is such a waste of time. it can change your whole dining attitude quickly. If i'm waiting, I'm looking for another place to go.

I was thinking that I am going to do the same thing if Ihave to wait for more than 20 minutes. I said to myself that the only time I can give as an allowance is only 5 minutes and that's it.

I don't remember waiting that long for the waiters to serve our food. I think the longest time is 15 minutes. I think I can still wait until 20 minutes. Beyond that I'll already call the manager. But what I really hate most in a restaurant is not the waiting for the food to be served but the service. I really hate it when the waiters/waitress are not friendly and will give you an "irritating" face rather than always smile at you.

You are lucky cause you only get to wait for 15 minutes. That's really normal and I think its suppose to be like that also. I also dont like it when the waiters and waitresses are unfriendly. They are so not getting a tip.

Hello p3ks626, It depends. If I am on a time schedule, then 15 min. is my max for the order to be placed. If I see that the staff is slow deliberately (standing around talking), I will leave within 5 min. Lastly, if I am on a date, and we have reservations, the food is really good, and the staff is working, we will wait 30 min. That will give us time to talk and enjoy the atmosphere.

We always eat at this restaurant with my girl, and there are other branches, we just get pissed with those branches because aside from unfriendly expressions from the people that serve you, you get the lowest class service, not to mention you'd have to wait very long for your food to be served! Funny thing is, we love their food! tsk tsk!
