Do You Watch Other Language Movies In the same language With English Subtitle??

If You have decided to watch a movie of other country in other language will you prefer to watch that movie in the same language with english subtitle or watch that movie in a dubbed version in your own language??I think it is always better to watch with subtitles because subtitles will give you a clear version of what is happening in that movie.Suppose if you are watching a dubbed version then there is chance of collapsing the concept i.e they may not understand the meaning correctly and use some other meaning to describe it,then it will lead to a total mess up.

I prefer to watch a subtitled show than one that has been dubbed. Different languages have different accents and different styles and ways of speaking that you would not be able to appreciate if it was dubbed. Also, sometimes the dubbed version is unable to capture the complete personality of the characters like the original version. Even if the subtitles are sometimes inaccurate, I would still definitely opt for the subbed version than the dubbed one.

The last I remember was Pans Labyrinth. For some reason, the English version was not working. So I watched it in Spanish and read the English subtitle. It was tiring! I wouldn't do it again.

I prefer watching movies with English Subtitles. I think dubbing is not really good especially when the one who dubs is not good. I also understand the movie more when I read it. Though sometimes the subtitle is not good. I have a talent for understanding a movie even if I don't hear it that much (usually English movies, and people around me are making annoying noises) or does not read that much.

Yes I have watched other language movies having English subtitles. My favorite foreign movies are Chinese movies which its theme is about playing Mahjong. Lol. I don't know if a lot is familiar with the game but I really love playing Mahjong. It gets my mind running and thinking what to move next. Its just exciting for me to watch Chinese or Asian movies depicting about playing Mahjong or conquering the world of mahjong. It's kinda weird hearing those actors and actresses voices but with the help of the English subtitles, it makes me understand what the hell they're saying.

I'd prefer to watch the original version with English subtitle. The dubbed version might lack the original music/sound effects, based on previous films I've watched. And of course, no one wants to watch a movie wherein the words don't match the way characters are opening their mouth!

I would prefer sub. I know when i first start watching sub videos it was quite a bit of trouble to watch the actual movie. I think i can do it now though without any probs.

Definitely with English subtitles rather than dubbed version.I guess the movie looks best in its original version .There are several foreign language movies who are best as it is like Old boy , Pan's Labyrinth,Amélie and many more.I think one can understand emotions displayed in the movie better with original voice along with English subs.

I really don't like movies that are dubbed. They painstakingly kill the actual movie essence itself. I would rather have it subtitled rather than see it dubbed in English, or in any language for that matter. I often watch Japanese and Chinese movies. Watching all these Japanese movies has given me a nack to understand some of the words even with seeing the subtitles. There are also certain gestures and dialogs plainly states what message it conveys. I have also done experiments wherein, I totally disable the subtitles and watch the movie as is. If you have been watching certain types of movies from certain parts of the world chances are in the long run subtitles will not be needed.

It is fun to watch dub movies. Whether it is drama, action or epic it turns into comedy especially when the dubber translates it differently. I prefer subtitles at least I can feel the emotion of the actors and actresses through their voice even if I do not understand. Though sometimes the translation is not good especially those movies that are pirated.

I haven't seen many films in other languages, but out of the ones I've had, I've seen both dubbed and subtitled. Dubbing is certainly easier especially when watching at home. Sometimes I watch and spend time on the computer which is only possible when you don't have to literally watch the tv the whole time to read what's said. Subtitled movies can only be watched when you're prepared to give them your 100% attention. Which I can do sometimes. Aside from being able to turn away from the screen, I don't have a preference. I've enjoyed both kinds . As far as dubbing getting the meaning of the words wrong, why isn't that risk just as possible with a subtitled version? Someone is still translating one language into English, the only difference is the translation is written instead of spoken. And isn't the reverse true? If someone translating for a subtitled film can be trusted to get the meaning correct, why should someone who translates for a dubbed film not be just as good at their job?

yes, i do watch several chinese movies... i also watch some asian movies... like thai movies, korean most especially... :D it is always better for me to watch foreign movies with subtitles than the dubbed ones. i feel the actors of course better display the true emotions of what they are saying unlike if they only dubbed it in english.

Dubbing ruins every movie that isn't English. I'd rather watch subtitles.

I have seen a few Korean movies with english subtitles and a a lot of Animes with english subtitles as well. I would prefer watching the original version with english subs. Watching dubbed foreign movies is not as fun as watching the original version. I prefer hearing their native tongue since they are filled with more emotions compared to a dubbed version. Also when translated, sometimes they miss out things in the translation
